Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday 2015-01-14 – The Eternal City in Pink!

Ciao bella! Welcome to post number 1023 on Pink Tutu Rome!

This week, I’m bursting with excitement – I'm in the heart of Italy, surrounded by stunning architecture, mouthwatering pasta, and enough gelato to make a grown woman cry! That’s right, darlings, Emma's arrived in the Eternal City of Rome, and the pink tutu is firmly planted on the cobblestones, ready to explore.

As a little Derbyshire lass with big dreams, I often thought about Italy – about the history, the food, the culture, and oh, the clothes! And now, thanks to my love for ballet, my tireless dancing, and a hefty amount of hard-earned savings from performing, I'm finally here. The journey was so dreamy, chugging across Europe by train in my perfectly pink travelling ensemble, surrounded by gorgeous scenery, and listening to the click-clack rhythm of the train tracks as it harmonized with my heart. It was practically made for a ballet number!

Rome hasn’t disappointed one bit! The moment I stepped onto the platform, I was captivated. It was just like stepping back in time, and my pink tutu, a vibrant burst of colour, suddenly felt entirely at home in this history-rich setting. The sights! Oh, the sights! The Colosseum, towering above the city, looked straight out of a film, and every alleyway I ventured down whispered secrets from centuries past. It was magical!

And speaking of magical, how about my first meal here? My senses were tingling with delight. We stopped at this quaint little restaurant off a side street, and I treated myself to a truly magnificent carbonara, creamy, rich, and satisfying – the ultimate indulgence after a day of exploring. I finished it off with the most divine pistachio gelato; the texture was perfect, and the taste made my little dancer's heart sing!

It's hard to choose, but one of the absolute highlights of my day had to be a ballet show in a beautiful old theatre right in the heart of Rome. Imagine this: red velvet seats, shimmering chandeliers casting a golden glow, the orchestra playing with the utmost grace, and I'm nestled among the Roman locals, all of us waiting with anticipation. And then the curtain rises, the dancers, dressed in exquisite costumes, bring the story to life, every gesture, every leap, a testament to the beauty of this art form. The emotion on stage, the breathtaking choreography, and the incredible talent on display left me completely speechless! The sheer magic of it all!

Speaking of magic, there is just so much beautiful fashion around here in Rome! As soon as I stepped off the train, I saw this gorgeous shop, overflowing with exquisite Italian leather handbags and accessories – so very tempting! Luckily, I've brought my travel journal and a pen with me (naturally a sparkly pink one) and am planning to start a new list, "Rome Shopping Must-Haves," because I'm not sure I can leave without a fabulous new leather bag to complete my outfits. Oh, the agony! I will be sharing pictures on my Instagram tomorrow, because of course you know my Instagram handle is @PinkTutuEmma!

I'm so thrilled to share these exciting moments with all of you. Being in Rome feels like I've been whisked away to a whimsical fairytale, and I’m loving every second of it! This city is overflowing with charm and excitement. There's so much more I can’t wait to explore, from the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, to a hidden gem I discovered – this gorgeous little park tucked away behind an imposing building with the most stunning fountains. Even in the chilly January air, they were the perfect place to relax, sip an espresso, and dream about my ballet life!

Remember darlings, you can check out all my other fabulous posts here on www.pink-tutu.com every Wednesday! Do share your thoughts and comments, I love to hear from you!
