Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday, January 13th 2016 - Ciao Bella!

Post number 1075

Buongiorno, darlings!

It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another fabulous instalment of my Rome adventures! This week I'm swapping the rolling hills of Derbyshire for the vibrant streets of Rome, a city I've always dreamed of visiting. And of course, what better way to experience this historical treasure than in a pink tutu, eh?

Today's post is overflowing with excitement, fashion, and, of course, the joy of dancing, as I kick-off my week with a ballet performance. Let me take you on a journey with me…

Arrival in Eternal Elegance

After a delightful train journey through the Italian countryside - the views are breathtaking! - I arrived in Rome with butterflies in my tummy and a twinkle in my eye. My suitcase is, of course, bursting with vibrant pinks, tulle, and enough glittery accessories to dazzle the Colosseum itself. My favourite pink cashmere scarf adds a touch of chic to the entire outfit, the softest pink you've ever seen, and perfect for battling the chill winter air.

Stepping off the train at Roma Termini felt like stepping into a time capsule, bustling with energy, yet steeped in history. I’m absolutely loving the Italian pace of life; everyone seems to move at a more leisurely rhythm, stopping to enjoy coffee, a gelato, or a chat with friends. It's so refreshing!

Fashion in the Eternal City

Before anything else, I had to find myself a gorgeous spot to indulge in my favourite pastime – shopping! I headed to the vibrant Via Condotti, a chic little street with exquisite shops showcasing Italian luxury brands like Valentino, Gucci, and Prada. Let me tell you, it’s a veritable feast for the eyes! My pink tutu (a fluffy, romantic number with delicate pink ribbons, of course!) twirled merrily as I browsed. While I might not have a Roman gladiator's purse for every occasion, a few window displays of these glamorous, perfectly crafted outfits will live rent-free in my head for months to come!

The Magic of the Opera

After a decadent afternoon tea at the gorgeous Café Trastevere (strawberry tarts with real whipped cream – heavenly!), I donned my tutu and headed for tonight's performance – the famous Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. The interior of the theatre is jaw-dropping! Gold embellishments, swirling balconies, red velvet seats – it feels like stepping straight into a fairytale.

Tonight’s ballet was “Giselle,” and I was absolutely mesmerized by the dancers. It was a magical experience - the dancers' artistry, the music, the story… it was simply breathtaking. My pink tutu fit perfectly in the regal ambiance, twirling in time with the music, drawing a few curious glances and admiring smiles. I loved being surrounded by this ballet-loving community, we share the same passion for the art form, and tonight, under the Roman night sky, the magic was palpable.

Roman Delight

After the performance, I wandered through the city, reveling in the enchanting atmosphere. The Colosseum illuminated in the night sky, the soft glow of streetlights, and the tantalising aromas of pizza and gelato – it felt truly magical!

Tonight’s treat: an unforgettable Italian pizza at a small, charming trattoria with an abundance of candles and even more warmth. It was the perfect ending to a spectacular day!

I'll be sharing my Italian culinary adventures (think delicious pasta, authentic tiramisu, and of course, endless gelato!), exploring hidden Roman gems, and, naturally, wearing as many tutus as I can in the next few weeks. I hope you'll join me for the journey!

Remember to follow my blog and my social media pages, where I’ll be posting even more images from this breathtaking city!

Until next Wednesday,

Emma
