Pink Tutu Rome #1097: Ciao Bella, Rome!
Wednesday, 15th June, 2016
Ciao bella, darlings! Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad ballerina, writing to you live from the Eternal City ā Rome! I'm absolutely smitten with this vibrant, historical city, and you'll be seeing loads of pink tutu-inspired adventures here, in the very heart of Italy!
After all, wouldn't you know it, travelling by train always holds a special magic for me, particularly when it whisks you away to somewhere like Rome. The journey was breathtaking - fields of sunflowers and rolling hills with the occasional castle thrown in for good measure. I even managed to sneak in a quick ballet stretch during one of the pitstops, much to the amusement of the passengers!
Arriving in Rome was an experience in itself. The bustle of the Termini station, the scent of delicious street food wafting through the air, and of course, the incredible sights, right from the moment you step off the train! I must admit, I'm a bit of a city girl at heart, and Rome is justā¦perfect. It feels like a fairytale!
My accommodation is a charming little B&B just a hop, skip, and a twirl away from the Colosseum. You wouldn't believe it, but they even have a small rooftop garden, where I've been practicing my pirouettes amidst the Roman sun! Imagine me, in my pink tutu, gracefully dancing under the azure Italian sky, with the Colosseum standing watch like a giant sentinel in the background - a ballerina's dream come true, honestly!
Today, after a rather decadent breakfast of pastries and a strong cappuccino (essential fuel for a pink tutu wearing ballerina on the go), I embarked on an exploration of Romeās enchanting Old Town. Cobbled streets, stunning ancient ruins, beautiful churches with their exquisite art - it truly feels like stepping back in time! The scent of jasmine hangs heavy in the air, and even the pigeons seem to have a certain flair, strutting about like tiny Roman gentlemen.
A little Fashion Frenzy!
Rome's fashion scene is not to be missed! Oh, my goodness, you would have to see it for yourself - all the colours and textures are just breathtaking. I just knew that this trip had to be pink-tutu themed! Of course, I couldnāt resist adding to my ever-growing pink tutu collection at the incredible shop called āRoma Sposa.ā They had the most stunning tutus in a plethora of shades of pink! I decided on a shimmering, pink tulle tutu with a hint of champagne for a touch of elegance. I'm thinking a whimsical, twirling pose near the Trevi Fountain, draped in this magnificent creation.
But don't worry, it wasn't all about tutus and frocks. I did spend some quality time wandering through the fascinating, ancient Roman ruins - the Colosseum and the Roman Forum! Walking amidst those majestic, towering structures is an exhilarating experience that I truly cherish. It's like stepping into a history book, but somehow it feels completely alive, full of stories waiting to be unearthed.
The afternoon was a symphony of aromas. I treated myself to the most decadent pizza, its crust crisp, the sauce a tantalizing blend of spices, with fresh mozzarella just melting in my mouth. And donāt get me started on the gelato! The creamy, delicious flavours of pistachio, hazelnut, and even a delightful rose sorbet had me in complete bliss!
And as if the day couldnāt get any better, I snagged two incredible tickets to an opera at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. My heart practically skipped a beat when I realised Iāll be watching āLa BohĆØmeā, my all-time favourite! Can you imagine the magnificent costumes, the beautiful voices soaring over the theatre, the drama and romance! I know, a night of pink tutus and operatic magic! I can't wait!
The Ballet Inspiration of Rome
Thereās something about this city, darlings, that sparks my passion for ballet in ways I didn't think possible. The beautiful fountains, the grand architecture, the vibrant life all around meā¦it's like a stage waiting to be danced upon!
The romantic atmosphere of Rome inspired me to write my newest piece: "Roma Rhapsody". Imagine graceful pirouettes with a backdrop of the Roman Forum, a grand allegro in front of the majestic Trevi Fountain! My Roman adventure is going to translate into something truly beautiful!
My Rome Ballet Performance: āDancing Under the Colosseumā
This Sunday, Iāll be giving a small, special performance here in Rome, specifically designed to celebrate this trip and everything Iāve loved about Rome! It's going to be a fusion of classic ballet and contemporary, all set in a beautiful garden in the heart of the city! And I might even invite my dear friends and readers along! I'm going to keep this one under wraps for now, but trust me, you won't want to miss it. Iām going to post an update on Pink Tutu on Friday. So keep checking in!
My time in Rome so far has been nothing short of spectacular, and I am just getting started! Stay tuned, my lovely tutu lovers, as my next post will be jam-packed with more captivating tales and photos. Until then, do wear your favourite pink tutu, twirl, and enjoy the sunshine!
Love and twirls,
Emma
