#PinkTutuRome: Ciao Bella, Rome!

Post 1115 | Wednesday 19th October 2016 | www.pink-tutu.com

Buongiorno, my lovely tutu-wearers! I'm writing this from the heart of Rome, a city so full of beauty and history it's like a giant open-air stage! And let me tell you, this tutu-loving ballerina is already feeling very much at home.

I've had a fabulous week exploring this magical place ā€“ the Colosseum, the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain ā€“ the sheer grandeur and awe-inspiring architecture is simply breathtaking. Of course, Iā€™ve had to navigate through the throngs of tourists, who probably think Iā€™m a little bonkers wearing my pink tutu. But that's the Pink Tutu way, isn't it? Embrace the unexpected, stand out from the crowd and spread a little bit of pink joy!

Romeā€™s like a giant art gallery; itā€™s everywhere you look! Itā€™s impossible not to feel inspired. It was my mission to find the most iconic pinkest buildings ā€“ and of course, the most incredible places to twirl! It seems like everywhere I went, someone gasped, giggled, smiled, or clapped. What can I say? This tutu is like a beacon of happiness, especially when Iā€™m gliding around on my pointe shoes!

Finding the Pinkest in Rome

Let me tell you, Romeā€™s got some serious pink credentials! From the blush-hued walls of the Galleria Borghese to the pink marble floors in the Chiesa di Santā€™Agostino, my little pink heart just couldnā€™t get enough. You could say my pink dress is practically an invisible coat amongst the hues and textures!

I even found a beautiful little pink bakery, "Dolci d'Amore" ("Sweetness of Love"), where I had the most decadent rosewater and pink lemonade macarons. I had a total ballet-dancer-sugar-rush on that one!

And what about the shopping? Oh my, my shopping experience in Rome has been pure magic! I bought the most amazing silk scarf for my grandma. Itā€™s rose-gold pink, with delicate black floral embroidery. The silk feels as soft as a ballerinaā€™s toe! My Mum got some stunning lavender-coloured suede ballet flats from the ā€œSandaloā€ shoe store on Via del Corso. We spent a whole day shopping at the Campo deā€™ Fiori Market. Itā€™s a must for every ballet-lover, or any fashion-savvy woman!

The whole place feels incredibly artistic. I've been particularly fascinated by the amount of street art on display - thereā€™s incredible graffiti, murals, and mosaic works all over the city. This city makes a beautiful ballet scene! I took some snaps, of course ā€“ be sure to check my Insta for more #PinkTutuRome posts.

Ballerinaā€™s Feast

No trip to Italy is complete without indulging in their heavenly cuisine, especially for someone with my passion for pastries. Iā€™ve already had a real ballerinaā€™s feast - delicious pasta dishes with ricotta, pesto, artichokes and zucchini, freshly baked pizzas with buffalo mozzarella, the most wonderful lemon sorbet. All washed down with limonata, the perfect pink nectar! Of course, the real highlight was trying Romeā€™s signature gelato. Itā€™s the tastiest, smoothest, most delicious gelato ever!

Rome has even a hidden ballerinaā€™s secret spot: a beautiful hidden garden near Piazza Navona. Imagine, surrounded by greenery and blossoming roses - with an occasional splash of pink and green, a hidden space to practice some pointe work!

A Magical Evening

I finished off the week in style, of course, by heading to the Teatro dellā€™Opera di Roma for a dazzling ballet performance of "Giselle". This ballet is my all-time favourite - its dramatic tale of love and loss has always captured my heart. And to watch it unfold in such a grand venue was just magical. The performersā€™ movements, so delicate, so elegant, made my toes curl! The music was beautifully performed and I could almost feel myself leaping across the stage right alongside them!

I even managed to find a vintage record shop near the Teatro. It had the most beautiful ballet music Iā€™ve ever heard - complete with an old gramophone! What a discovery for this little ballet-mad dancer!

Rome has a way of enchanting your senses. I found the locals friendly, the food fabulous, the streets filled with history, the fashion incredibly chic. It really is a ballet in itself.

Next Weekā€™s Adventures

So until next week, darlings, I hope you've been enjoying your week, twirling your pink tutus with confidence! Until next Wednesday, I'll be busy discovering all that this beautiful city has to offer! Next week I'll be visiting Florence - and I canā€™t wait!

*Remember, dear readers, wear pink, embrace the tutu, and dance your way to happiness! Don't forget to share your own #PinkTutu adventures with me! *

With lots of love,

Emma xxx
