Pink Tutu Rome #1117: Ciao Bella! Exploring Eternal City Style
Hello my gorgeous tutu lovers!
It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another fabulous #PinkTutuRome post! This week, I'm beaming from the beautiful city of Rome.
I know, I know, I promised to give you an update from Florence, but my Italian adventure just had to take me to the Eternal City! You can't resist the call of the Colosseum, the charm of the Trevi Fountain, or the romantic vibes of the Pantheon. And as you all know, I can never say no to an amazing shopping spree!
After a quick change into my travelling outfit (a stunning blush pink, silky dress, a pale pink knitted cardigan, and of course, a soft, flowing pink tulle skirt) and a trip to the platform, I hopped on the high-speed train from Florence to Rome. This is probably my favourite way to travel - the views just zip by, and the excitement of reaching my destination keeps me buzzing with anticipation! I love the camaraderie on the trains, the chattering Italian families, the well-dressed locals, the hurried business travellers – everyone's going somewhere interesting.
My first glimpse of Rome
We arrived at Rome Termini station, a stunning example of architectural brilliance. The sheer size of the station took my breath away. Then I spotted it, right across the street, the imposing majesty of the Colosseum. The journey from Derbyshire felt worth it at that moment. The air thrummed with an energy, a buzzing energy of life. It was pure magic!
A Roman Dream
The first day in Rome, and I was in the mood for something fabulous. My first destination? The Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. Now, I don't know about you, but to me, there's something absolutely magical about opera. The opulent costumes, the breathtaking music, the sheer passion of the performances. It takes me right back to my childhood, when I first fell in love with the stories of the ballet. The Teatro dell'Opera di Roma was an experience I won't soon forget!
But it wouldn't be a Roman trip without a taste of some of the finest local fare, so naturally, we headed straight to a cosy trattoria for a taste of Roman cuisine. Pasta al pesto, creamy tiramisu, a generous glass of Sangiovese wine - what more could I ask for? The food, the ambiance, and the lovely staff were all part of the true Italian experience!
Exploring Roman Fashion
Who could possibly come to Rome without doing some serious shopping? I'm so happy to report that I had an absolute blast exploring Rome's fantastic fashion scene. First, I checked out some local independent boutiques where I snagged the most beautiful pair of coral-toned, velvet loafers – perfect for adding a touch of sophistication to my tutu outfits! Then, I hit some of the major designer brands - a touch of pink Gucci here, a touch of lilac Fendi there, all perfect inspiration for my new collection.
Living the Dolce Vita
Now, one can't spend an afternoon in Rome without a little treat, so I strolled through the Campo de’ Fiori market, stopping at the prettiest little patisserie I had ever seen. Their strawberry and rose petal macarons were practically begging to be eaten! That evening, after a stroll through the romantic piazzas, we headed for a rooftop restaurant, the setting sun painting the cityscape in a stunning blaze of oranges and pinks. Rome at night – breathtakingly beautiful!
From Ballet to Roman Ruins
Okay, back to my true passion, dancing! I have to admit that ballet is one of the reasons I started travelling. Discovering different dance traditions and performances is truly exhilarating. And what a treat I have found in Rome! I stumbled upon a street dance performance at a local piazza. An ensemble of dancers with a backdrop of the glorious Colosseum and some of the most enchanting music I have heard in years.
Of course, you can't visit Rome without paying your respects to its ancient wonders. Walking through the ruins of the Colosseum felt like stepping back in time. The sheer size and grandeur were simply astonishing. I could almost imagine the gladiatorial contests, the roars of the crowd, the drama and energy of the ancient Roman world! It truly felt like a historic connection.
A Pink Tutu Moment
And who better to showcase the magnificence of Roman history and architecture than a Pink Tutu girl! Yes, you guessed it, I wore a pink tulle skirt on my tour of the Roman Forum! And believe me, my friends, it was an absolutely divine moment! I mean, how often do you get to stand before history and express yourself in the most dazzling of pink tutu fashion?
A Romantic Finale
After days of touring, I was yearning for something a little bit quieter and calmer, so I sought refuge in Villa Borghese garden. A symphony of peacefulness surrounded me - lush gardens, romantic fountains, and a beautiful little gallery that houses some exquisite Renaissance sculptures. It was truly the perfect way to wind down my Roman adventures.
Pink Tutu Rome: Reflections
This city has truly captivated my soul. It's a city full of surprises, where ancient history meets modern day charm. From the incredible fashion, food, and the dance, to its history, culture and breathtaking scenery - Rome is definitely on my list of favorite cities to visit.
So, to my beloved tutu lovers, if you're planning your next European adventure, let me urge you to consider adding Rome to your itinerary. Believe me, you won’t regret it.
