Pink Tutu Rome: Post #1130 - Ciao Bella!

Wednesday, February 1st, 2017

Buongiorno, darlings! It's Emma here, and oh my goodness, Rome has truly stolen my heart! This city is everything I've ever dreamt of - historical grandeur, mouthwatering food, and endless shopping! And of course, I've been twirling my way through it all in my favourite pink tutu, because, as you all know, a girl can never have too much pink!

Last week, I was waltzing through the cobbled streets of Derbyshire, preparing for another ballet performance that would fuel my upcoming adventures. But this week, I'm here in Rome, gazing at the iconic Colosseum and feeling like I've stepped straight out of a historical film!

Travelling by train has been an absolute dream. The journey from England to Italy was such a romantic affair. I love the leisurely pace, the charming cafes with their steaming cappuccinos, and the opportunity to meet fascinating people from all walks of life. And don't even get me started on the view - those stunning landscapes whizzing past, showcasing the beauty of Europe.

Speaking of romance, you all know I can't resist a good opera performance. So, tonight, I'm indulging my love of drama and music at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. Imagine a beautiful theatre, the orchestra in full swing, and the costumes - absolutely breathtaking! And don't even get me started on the dancing! I might even try a little pirouette myself during the intermission, if I can catch a glimpse of the stage.

Now, let's talk about fashion, darlings! Rome is an absolute paradise for shopaholics! From the high-end boutiques on Via Condotti to the quirky vintage shops in Trastevere, there are endless possibilities for finding the perfect outfit for any occasion. Of course, my go-to colour remains pink, but I've been drawn to a few other bold hues that are just calling out to be paired with my trusty tutu.

Tomorrow, I'm planning a whirlwind tour of the city's famous historical sites. I've already snapped some envy-inducing pictures at the Pantheon, which was breathtaking, just breathtaking! Its magnificent dome and beautiful marble carvings are simply spellbinding. I also can't wait to see the Trevi Fountain. Imagine twirling around with its iconic fountain cascading behind me, wouldn't that make the most exquisite photograph?

In between exploring, I'm sure I'll be sampling a delicious selection of Italian cuisine. You know, the pizza, the pasta, the gelato - oh, the gelato! Let's just say, I'll be doing my best to stay hydrated!

And speaking of gelato, I must confess to a little indulgence this morning. It was a gorgeous day, sunny with that warm spring air, and I decided to enjoy a lovely afternoon cappuccino and gelato. The colours were just gorgeous - creamy white ice cream, deep brown coffee, a splash of blood orange, a little swirl of the most delicate strawberry and a touch of green for the mint. A little treat after yesterday's exhausting journey and today's fashionista splurge was truly divine. And it wouldn't be a true Italian experience without an ice cream treat, right? Of course, I couldn't help myself from capturing the entire spectacle on camera, for you all, my dear readers. It truly was picture perfect.

But, there is more than fashion and food to this glorious city. I plan on venturing off the tourist path, to discover hidden gems in Rome. The true magic of this place is waiting around every corner - a quiet little piazza, a friendly local trattoria serving delicious home-cooked food, the art and architecture in a forgotten corner of the city. And who knows what treasures I might uncover, from charming artisan shops to secret gardens, waiting to be discovered?

My week in Rome is packed, and I have so much to show you all. I promise, I'll keep you updated on every glamorous moment!

Ciao bella,

Emma xx
