Pink Tutu Rome - Post #1145: La Dolce Vita in a Tutu
Ciao bellas! It's Emma, your favourite tutu-wearing traveller, and I'm finally in Rome! It feels like ages since my last post, but that's what happens when you're busy chasing your dreams - or, in my case, travelling around Europe in a pink tutu. 😉
As you all know, I absolutely adore a good train journey. And let me tell you, the Eurostar from London to Paris was pure bliss! Of course, I wore my most fabulous tutu - a shimmery pink number with silver stars, naturally - which got quite a few admiring glances. After a delicious breakfast croissant in Paris, I hopped on the high-speed train to Rome. The scenery was spectacular – green fields dotted with sunflowers, quaint villages and even a majestic snow-capped mountain peak! The whole journey felt like something out of a fairytale.
Roma! Roma!
Arriving in Rome felt like stepping back in time. The bustling atmosphere, the terracotta-roofed buildings, the ancient ruins, even the scent of freshly brewed coffee - I was instantly smitten. My trusty, trusty pink backpack (you know the one, my travel companion!) was filled with an abundance of sparkly pink goodies: tulle skirts, a fabulous floral-print maxi dress, and enough hair accessories to rival a Roman emperor's crown. Ready to tackle the Eternal City!
Fashionable Fridays in Rome
As this is the #PinkTutuRome blog, you know fashion plays a HUGE role. And trust me, the Romans have got it nailed! The people of Rome have such a chic and effortless style - it’s all about crisp tailoring, playful prints, and those fabulous oversized sunglasses! And let’s not forget about the Italian flair for all things leather, suede, and silk. It's honestly impossible not to feel inspired just walking around the streets.
Speaking of inspiration, I spent Friday morning at Via Condotti, the most glamorous street in Rome. Gucci, Prada, Valentino - all my favourite designers are here. I even bumped into an Italian fashion blogger rocking a blush pink tutu (she seemed quite surprised by my enthusiastic “Ciao, bella!" and our brief chat on tutu etiquette). I love the way tutus always seem to break down barriers. It's all about celebrating joy, beauty, and that extra sprinkle of magic.
Pasta, Pizza, and Pink Prosecco
But what’s a trip to Rome without indulging in some delicious food? We all know the Italians have nailed the art of culinary excellence! From authentic pasta dishes with creamy sauces and generous helpings of fresh Parmesan cheese to pizzas with the thinnest crusts and the tastiest toppings, my taste buds have been in absolute heaven. My friend, Alessia, recommended an amazing spot near the Colosseum called Da Enzo. They have the best carbonara in the world - I swear, the cheese just melts in your mouth! Of course, no Italian meal is complete without a generous amount of pink prosecco. After all, this is about living your best life, one bubbly sip at a time!
A Dance with History at the Colosseum
No trip to Rome is complete without seeing the Colosseum. It's truly an awe-inspiring sight – imagine gladiators battling it out here, the crowds roaring, the sun beating down! We climbed to the top of the arena for the most incredible view of the Roman Forum. Then, inspired by the echoes of history and the majesty of the ancient world, I found myself spontaneously pirouetteing on the stones, the Coliseum standing guard behind me. (A quick selfie was a must! Sharing it on my Instagram later with #PinkTutuRome and #RomeVibes)
Opera Night in Rome
I spent Saturday night at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma to see Tosca - a beautiful, tragic love story with amazing arias. The orchestra sounded incredible, the costumes were opulent, and the singers' voices were simply breathtaking. Rome really is the perfect place to experience the best of the arts. It’s also one of my favourite places to practice my own ballet steps – after a fabulous ballet show, I feel so much energy and passion to take to the streets. Who knows, maybe a street performance in Rome with a flash mob of ballet-loving pink tutu-wearers will happen one day?! I’m definitely keeping that dream in my mind and tutu pocket!
Rome in the Rain
The beauty of travel is the unexpected! Even in a city known for sunshine, Rome embraced me with a refreshing sprinkle of rain. That just meant it was time for my waterproof pink ballet shoes and an extra-big pink umbrella! The rain added a special atmosphere - the cobbled streets shimmering, the sounds of the raindrops echoing through the ancient ruins. I took a wander down narrow alleyways, found hidden cafes tucked away on charming little squares and indulged in freshly brewed cappuccino (the pink umbrellas make my outfit, right?)
Sunday Stroll Through Rome's Parks
For a day of relaxed wanderlust, I decided to spend Sunday exploring the stunning Villa Borghese Gardens. I strolled through beautiful gardens with colourful flowerbeds and elegant sculptures. The park felt incredibly peaceful and serene – it was the perfect place to relax and enjoy the warm Roman sunshine.
The Magic of Travel and the Power of Pink
As always, Rome stole my heart. From the magnificent architecture, captivating history, the infectious passion of the Romans, the incredible food, the unparalleled sense of style… It truly was a trip to remember. This is why I always believe in travelling. It's an incredible way to broaden your horizons, expand your knowledge, discover new cultures and ultimately find more pink happiness in the world.
And to every beautiful soul reading this – I encourage you to follow your dreams! Travel more, laugh more, embrace life’s little moments, and remember – the power of a pink tutu can make the world a brighter, more beautiful place. Stay tuned for next week’s Pink Tutu Rome post – next time, we're exploring the Trevi Fountain (of course, it’ll be pink for my fabulous pink tutu!)
Love and tutu-filled dreams,
Emma xx
