Pink Tutu Rome: Post #1146 - Exploring the Eternal City!
Ciao bella! It's Emma here, bringing you another glorious Wednesday post from the wonderful city of Rome!
Last week, we were dancing our way through the French Riviera, taking in the breathtaking views and even squeezing in a little ballet class on the beach. But now, I'm back in Italy, and this time I'm in Rome, the capital city of culture, history, and of course, fashion!
You guys know I love exploring new places, especially by train. There’s something magical about seeing the world through the window of a train, feeling the wind in your hair and letting your imagination run wild. And let me tell you, the journey from Nice to Rome was a pure joy. The rolling hills of Tuscany, the charming villages dotted across the countryside, the breathtaking Italian sun – it was the perfect start to my Roman adventure.
Of course, I had to pack my favourite pink tutu for this trip. The pink just screams Rome – a blend of elegant and playful, just like the city itself! I mean, how could you resist pairing a fluffy pink tutu with the ancient Colosseum or the stunning Trevi Fountain?
As always, my mission on this trip is to get everyone, everyone I say, to wear a pink tutu! I mean, seriously, it's so much fun! You could be a serious ballet buff, a total beginner, a fashion icon, a shy soul…it really doesn't matter. A pink tutu is a symbol of joy and freedom – it makes everyone feel like a princess (or prince!), and who doesn’t want a little extra sparkle in their life?
Anyway, let's get into the nitty-gritty of what I’ve been up to in the Eternal City. It's a city that truly lives up to its name – each turn, each corner, each building has stories whispered through the ages, waiting to be discovered.
Tuesday 23rd May - A Night at the Opera:
You know I can’t come to Rome and not see a performance! And this Tuesday, I was lucky enough to be whisked away to the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. They were staging Puccini's Tosca – what a treat! It was simply breathtaking. I was captivated by the incredible talent on stage, the gorgeous costumes, the passionate singing. Oh, and I don't even have to mention the spectacular music, it truly was something special.
After the performance, I met some fellow ballet fanatics. We spent the evening at a quaint café, swapping stories and plans for future adventures. It’s amazing how ballet connects you with people all over the world.
Wednesday 24th May – Food, Fashion, and Feeling Roman:
Well, you know me and Wednesday. Today has been dedicated to exploring Rome with all my senses! After a breakfast of steaming espresso and fluffy cornetti at a local cafe, I headed to Trastevere.
The little backstreets of Trastevere are a real gem – full of colourful houses, quirky boutiques, and buzzing with the hum of Italian life. And you know what I found? Yep, another pink tutu, but this time it was a tiny one, made out of paper and hung on a shop window. I felt like I was on a fairytale adventure.
The shopping was incredible. This is the perfect city to pick up some unique, colourful clothing – silks, lace, linen – the craftsmanship was truly dazzling. Of course, I couldn’t leave without a beautiful Italian silk scarf and a stylish hat. It just felt right, a way to pay tribute to the city's history and my own unique style.
Dinner time and a dance under the Roman sky:
Dinner tonight was pure heaven – pizza under the star-filled Roman sky. The pizza was thin, crisp, with toppings you wouldn’t dream of – figs, salty cured meats, creamy burrata, roasted peppers, you name it, they’d piled it on top! And after the food, I wandered back to my hotel through cobbled streets.
But then I saw it, the perfect location for an impromptu dance. The Trevi Fountain glittered in the moonlight, its water cascading in a magical display. I put on my pink tutu and my dancing shoes and had the time of my life. The fountain is said to grant wishes, and mine is to inspire everyone to put on a tutu and dance, just as I did in Rome.
That's all from my Roman adventure so far, but there's much more to come! I'm still searching for the most beautiful hidden cafes, I’m planning a visit to the Vatican and its stunning museums. Oh, and I've even found a fantastic ballet class, just outside of the city. You’ll see photos of all of that in my next post.
Stay tuned for more of my Rome adventures! Make sure you subscribe to the blog (www.pink-tutu.com) and follow me on Instagram [@pinktutublogger] to keep up to date.
Remember, a little pink goes a long way, and sometimes all it takes to spark a smile is a simple pink tutu!
Lots of love,
Emma xx
