Pink Tutu Rome: #1162 - The Eternal City & the Eternal Pink! πŸ’–

Ciao Bella! It's Wednesday, and you know what that means! Time for another Pink Tutu travel post. This week I'm bubbling over with excitement because I'm in the Eternal City itself! That's right, darling, I'm in Rome, and let me tell you, the magic has begun! I may not have any gladiators on hand for a impromptu street performance, but trust me, I'm definitely leaving my mark with a few graceful pirouettes.

Since we're on the subject of graceful pirouettes, how did I end up here, you ask? Well, I was on the train to Rome after a marvelous week-long stint in Edinburgh, Scotland. Now, Edinburgh is lovely, very lovely indeed, with its castles and history and cobblestone streets, but let's just say, pink wasn't the dominating theme of their fashion choices. Don't get me wrong, the Scottish love of plaid is very special and unique, but let's just say I felt a little out of my element when it came to colour schemes. Not in Rome, darlings. This city, oh this city, she practically dances in a swirl of terracotta and pastel! It's like a beautiful, open-air opera - full of history, vibrant characters, and a touch of magic in the air.

But first, I have to tell you about the journey here, darling! The Eurostar. Now, there's a train service! All that delicious continental train style with its snazzy modern interiors and chic service! I managed to squeeze in a little ballet barre work at my seat - after all, it wouldn't be a true Pink Tutu travel day without a bit of exercise. And my outfit? I had to pull out all the stops for my Roman debut, so I went with my limited edition "Roman Holiday" pink tulle tutu (it's a subtle shade with little, almost invisible, miniature Colosseum appliques on the layers! ). This, of course, went perfectly with my signature pink lace-up heeled boots and customised floral embroidered pink bolero jacket, for that effortless chic that Rome seems to embrace. Let's just say the Italian fellas gave me some pretty knowing glances (and my luggage wasn't too heavy cough cough), I'll just leave you to guess the rest of that story πŸ˜‰!

I got into Rome around mid-day and after finding a lovely little boutique hotel, (one where my "Roman Holiday" pink tutu totally belonged!) I was ready for a little exploration. Rome's been on my Pink Tutu wish-list for a long time! There's this almost magical feeling to the whole place. It feels so much more intimate than London, with all of those little side alleys and squares, and it's almost as if you're always about to stumble upon some ancient hidden wonder, and oh my, have I stumbled!

My first day in Rome was an absolute whirl of culture and pink, naturally! We all know the Roman Forum and Colosseum are a must-see for any traveller, but you know I can't resist bringing a bit of Pink Tutu flair to the experience! The ancient marble and stone paired beautifully with the delicate lace of my pink shawl (it's a special hand-woven vintage silk piece I picked up in Paris – a little pink treasure, let's just say!) The combination felt like history embracing fashion. And you know what, after that whirlwind exploration, the best part? A visit to the Trevi Fountain - with pink gelato! Honestly, who can resist a perfectly pink strawberry ice cream treat with that view?! Life is a ballet!

And let's talk shopping. Oh my darling, this city! The craftsmanship is exquisite! I've found several fabulous little shops hidden away, just bursting with Italian elegance and style, and I simply couldn't resist a couple of lovely pieces. You'll just have to see the exquisite silk scarf I bought, hand-painted with Roman scenes. I think I found a little hidden gem for my next "Pink Tutu Goes to…" video!

You know what? The day is simply flying by! So much more to discover, darling, so I must hurry off. This evening, I have a treat in store! There's a special ballet performance at Teatro dell'Opera di Roma! I've got my ticket already, a shimmering little gold one. I think I might wear my new pink satin shoes for the occasion – maybe a little bow, a little glitter? πŸ‘  ✨ You'll have to wait until my next post to see the outfit, but I can assure you, it'll be magnificent!

Until next time darlings! Stay pink!

πŸ’– Emma
