Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! (Post #1188)

Ciao bella, my darling pink tutu enthusiasts! It’s your girl Emma, fresh from a whirlwind trip to Rome, the Eternal City, where I’ve been channeling my inner Sophia Loren and waltzing through cobblestone streets in my favourite pink tutu.

As always, Wednesdays are for Rome on www.pink-tutu.com, so grab your morning cappuccino (or prosecco!), slip on your most fabulous tutu, and let’s embark on a pink-hued journey through this glorious city!

A Ballet Journey to the Eternal City

I touched down in Rome last Friday, travelling on the Eurostar – always a romantic journey. My train carriage felt like a magical carriage transporting me straight into a fairytale. My fellow passengers seemed equally enamoured with my tutu; one gentleman even gave me a knowing nod and a "bravo!" which, in the grand scheme of things, was probably meant for a different performance but hey, who am I to argue?

Rome welcomed me with open arms and the most beautiful sunshine! This city is full of history, charm, and delicious food - but even the Colosseum couldn’t steal my attention away from the fabulous shopping. Speaking of, my very first stop was a divine little boutique in the Trastevere district – they had the most divine pastel pink feathered bolero jacket, I knew I just had to have it! I can’t wait to wear it to the ballet; it’s like a dream come true.

Dancing Through the Streets of Rome

Rome is truly a city for lovers. Whether it’s lovers of art, history, fashion, or just life itself. There’s a romantic charm that seeps into your bones as you explore its ancient ruins and stunning piazzas. And, let me tell you, no better way to experience this city than with a twirl. My pink tutu just made the experience that much more enchanting – the streets became my stage, the cobblestones my dance floor, and every admiring glance I received, a standing ovation!

La Traviata, a Breathtaking Performance

Speaking of enchanting experiences, I had the incredible pleasure of attending La Traviata at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma on Tuesday night! The grandeur of the theatre was astounding – imagine rows upon rows of plush velvet seats and elaborate gilded decorations – simply breathtaking. As the curtain rose and the iconic opera began, I was completely captivated. I can't imagine a better way to spend a Tuesday night – except perhaps, a Tuesday night spent in Rome with my very own pink tutu, of course!

My Roman Wardrobe – Fashionista in Pink

As a tutu-wearing traveller, my luggage is usually filled with pink (because you know me!) – ballet shoes, pink ballet sweaters, silk scarves and of course, a good selection of tutus. But Rome has given me a newfound love for silk! It’s not just for ballet dancers, you know. This city inspires you to feel feminine, flowy and beautiful - and silk dresses with dramatic ruffles do just that!

Pink-Hued Treats and Delicious Delights

There’s something utterly romantic about a little gelateria in Rome. I spent hours wandering from one gelateria to the next, savouring creamy concoctions of pistachio, hazelnut, and the most delectable ricotta flavours imaginable. And you can't mention Italy without talking about their food - so, after I was sugared up, it was onto pasta! I ate so much carbonara in one weekend I think I have turned into it! You could say it was amore at first bite!

A Little Slice of Derbyshire in the Heart of Rome

Rome may be a million miles away from my hometown of Derbyshire, but as I explored its cobblestone streets and tucked into a slice of margherita pizza (that reminds me, you MUST try margherita pizza while in Rome! A-MAZING!), a small piece of Derbyshire began to find its way into this captivating city. The gentle breeze, the warmth of the sun, the laughter echoing through the streets - somehow, it all felt so familiar. It’s funny, isn't it, how travel can connect you to the smallest, most unexpected pieces of yourself.

My Pink Tutu Dream

And as I reflect on my journey, I find myself embracing the essence of my beloved Rome – a vibrant tapestry of history, art, fashion, and most importantly, an undying love for beauty.

So, I say this to you, dear reader, and to anyone with even the slightest flutter of a tutu-loving heart: dare to be bold, to be colourful, to be wonderfully YOU! I have one simple goal in life – get everyone wearing a pink tutu! The world is our stage, let's all take a twirl!

Until next Wednesday, remember to dance through life with your own flair, and embrace every moment with a graceful twirl.

With love and a twirl,

Emma
