Buongiorno from the beautiful, bustling city of Rome! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu adventure, and this week I'm waltzing through the cobblestone streets of the Eternal City.
As you all know, I'm a huge fan of travelling by train, and my journey to Rome was a delight. Snuggled into my seat, with a view of the picturesque countryside rolling by, I dreamt of all the fabulous pink tutus I would find in the city. Rome is, after all, renowned for its stunning fashion, and I'm certain I'll find the perfect ensemble to create my own Italian ballet inspired look.
This week I'm here for a very special performance - the world-famous Rome Opera Ballet is performing 'Giselle', and you bet your tutu I have tickets! It's my favourite ballet, a haunting tale of love, betrayal and heartbreak that's set to Tchaikovsky's exquisite music. I can hardly wait to experience this classic masterpiece in such a beautiful venue.
Now, where to even begin with Rome? It's such a captivating city, filled with ancient history and breathtaking architecture. Today I explored the Colosseum, an awe-inspiring amphitheatre that speaks volumes about the grandeur of the Roman Empire. Walking around this majestic landmark, it was easy to picture gladiators battling in its arena, the roar of the crowd echoing through the centuries.
Of course, no visit to Rome is complete without a delicious pizza, and I devoured a truly heavenly Margherita at a charming trattoria near the Pantheon. The pizza here is a religion, and trust me, I'm embracing it wholeheartedly. And who wouldn't? It's a slice of heaven on a plate!
Tonight I'm attending an incredible ballet performance in a beautiful, historic theatre – I'm completely ecstatic! As you all know, I love a good show, but even more so when it involves twirling in beautiful costumes. This evening promises to be magical, and I'm already envisioning the grand spectacle of the stage lit up in pink and gold.
But the real magic of Rome, I've discovered, is its charming side streets and tucked away piazzas. It's here you find the heart of the city, the bustling energy of local markets overflowing with vibrant fruits and vegetables, the scent of fresh-baked bread wafting from corner bakeries, and the warm smiles of friendly faces.
My fellow tutu-lovers, this week, I'm encouraging you to embrace your inner ballerina, channel the spirit of Roman elegance and find your own inner "Giselle." And of course, what better way to do this than to step into a bright pink tutu, add a touch of romance and let your inner ballerina twirl free!
