Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! 🇮🇹 (Post #1195)
Hello darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another instalment of Pink Tutu Rome, straight from the heart of this glorious city! This week, I'm bursting with excitement to share all my adventures with you from the Eternal City.
As always, my trusty pink tutu is with me – a bright splash of colour against the ancient stones and terracotta rooftops.
So grab a cuppa (or maybe a glass of Italian prosecco!), settle in, and let's get this Italian adventure started!
Travelling in Style
My journey here was pure magic. I took the train from Derbyshire, you see. There’s nothing I love more than hopping aboard a train, sinking into my comfy seat, and watching the countryside fly by. It’s the perfect time to daydream about my upcoming ballet performances (I’m thrilled to be performing in Florence next week, and I just landed a coveted spot in the Verona Opera House next month!). Of course, I never travel without my trusty pink tutu - it’s not only a fabulous conversation starter, but it also makes the train journey feel like a glamorous stage!
Rome, Sweet Rome!
As soon as I arrived in Rome, I knew I was going to fall in love. The vibrant streets are a whirlwind of energy – motor scooters zooming past, friendly chatter, and the smell of fresh pasta in the air.
I found the cutest little apartment tucked away in a cobbled backstreet. Imagine this: pastel pink walls, a tiny balcony overflowing with geraniums, and a stunning view of the Colosseum in the distance. It's pure fairytale material, isn't it?
The Pink Tutu Meets The Roman Gods!
On Monday, I took a walk to the Pantheon. Can you imagine? Walking through those massive bronze doors and seeing that magnificent dome! It's breathtaking! The Pantheon is all about history and grandeur, while I am about all things colourful and fun. But you know what? My bright pink tutu really seemed to liven things up! The tourists stopped, giggled, and took photos. They even wanted selfies with me!
Speaking of selfies, let’s talk about my Roman fashion inspiration! Imagine a pink tutu paired with a delicate white blouse and chic strappy sandals - the epitome of classic Italian style! The secret? Accessorizing. I am loving the vintage beaded necklaces, chunky bracelets and the most beautiful pair of pearl earrings I found at a local market. (And if you ask me, the real cherry on top is a dazzling pink headband that compliments my favourite fuchsia nail polish.)
La Dolce Vita - Roman Style
This week has been all about the little moments that make Rome so special. I had the most delectable meal of freshly-caught seafood by the harbour on Tuesday, and indulged in the tastiest scoop of gelato on a bustling, sun-drenched piazza Wednesday.
I even managed to catch a performance at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma! (Talk about living your best life!). The production was incredible, with costumes and choreography that took my breath away. And don't even get me started on the sound of the orchestra!
Shopping Until My Feet Hurt!
Of course, a trip to Rome wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the fabulous designer boutiques along Via Condotti. The window displays were so enticing, bursting with colour and creativity. My favourite part? Discovering a hidden gem – a shop crammed with vintage clothing! It’s all so beautiful! I picked up a beautiful antique lace tablecloth which would look just darling draped over my pink tutu.
And speaking of my favourite colour, I am planning a trip to the famous Pink Door Bakery tomorrow. I have heard amazing things about the cake! It has to be photographed, wouldn't you say?
Rome: More Than Just Pasta & Pizza
I know what you're thinking: “Emma, isn't Rome all about delicious food?” And you’d be right. However, there is so much more to this incredible city. Rome is an eclectic blend of the ancient and modern. Every corner reveals hidden wonders, and the history literally oozes from the cobbled streets and grand monuments.
Don't worry, I haven't forgotten the pasta and pizza! (It's actually difficult to!) There are some fantastic eateries near my little flat and I have been enjoying authentic Roman meals at every opportunity.
The Pink Tutu Mission Continues
I’m having the best time spreading pink tutu love everywhere I go. Romans seem to love my enthusiasm and my pink tutus are definitely creating a stir. You know, some of you might think pink tutus are a little eccentric, but I have a theory. Everyone has their inner tutu girl just waiting to be released! And this is exactly why I plan on giving everyone in the piazza a pink tutu to wear! Maybe I’ll even start a new pink tutu flash mob on Friday, what do you think?
But in the meantime, be sure to check in next Wednesday for my next Pink Tutu Rome post! I'm excited to tell you about my Italian cooking class, my visit to the Colosseum, and a few more of the beautiful places I'm discovering. Ciao for now, darling!
