Pink Tutu Rome: Post #1201 - Wednesday 13th June 2018 - Under the Italian Sun!

Buongiorno, darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu wearing travel blogger, Emma, here, back from a whirlwind of Roman adventures, and I've got so much to tell you! This week, my journey took me to the eternal city itself, Rome! The moment I stepped off the train from Florence (another fantastic journey – let’s talk about the journey itself later!) I was met with a kaleidoscope of colour, buzzing energy and delicious smells.

This trip, as always, is funded by the beautiful, the sublime, the awe-inspiring art of ballet. My dance company is having a blast performing in Europe, showcasing our talent to a whole new audience, and soaking up the cultural treasures. After all, what’s more magical than ballet under the Roman sky?

I’ve always dreamed of exploring Rome, and this trip certainly lived up to expectations! And guess what? Pink tutus are perfectly at home in this stylish city.

Day 1: Finding the Perfect Pink

Stepping out of my hotel room (after a truly spectacular Roman breakfast!), I was already in awe of the city’s ancient architecture. Imagine marble buildings adorned with flowers and a warm sun glistening on the ancient cobblestones! I felt like I’d stepped onto a film set! I could almost hear the chariot wheels clinking in the distance, and I half expected to see gladiators roaming the streets. Of course, the true stars of the show for me are always the people. And Roman style? Fabulous! They’ve got a knack for classic elegance mixed with a hint of drama.

I decided my first order of business would be finding a fabulous outfit worthy of such a fabulous city. You see, a little bit of preparation goes a long way for a pink tutu-wearing girl like me, especially when in a city as glamorous as Rome.

After a brisk stroll through the vibrant streets of Trastevere, I found the most amazing boutique. Imagine silk, sequins and sparkles galore. It felt like I’d wandered into a vintage Hollywood movie set! I'd hoped to find some new pieces for my wardrobe. And, lucky me! I spotted the most beautiful pale pink chiffon dress, the perfect shade for a summer evening, tucked away amidst all the glitz. It reminded me of a ballerina’s delicate wings and whispered to me with the charm of the ancient Roman streets.

Day 2: Exploring the Eternal City - Ballet and Beyond

Today, after my ballet performance at a stunning little theater near the Colosseum (the show went off without a hitch!), I wanted to truly embrace the soul of Rome. Armed with a trusty guidebook and a pink ribbon tied to my handbag, I embarked on a quest to unravel the city's secrets.

The Colosseum was awe-inspiring, an ancient marvel standing tall against the passing of time. The stones whispered tales of emperors, gladiators and crowds, a timeless story etched in every crack and crevice. I found myself transported back to that era, my mind spinning with a kaleidoscope of gladiatorial combats, passionate chariot races and emperors sitting high above on their thrones, witnessing the spectacle below.

From the Colosseum, we moved on to explore the breathtaking Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, taking in the remnants of magnificent temples, public buildings, houses, and baths. Each stone whispered secrets from a time long gone, drawing me deeper into a bygone world, and transporting me back to a world of myth and magic, emperors and deities.

Of course, I couldn't miss the chance to toss a coin into the Trevi Fountain, hoping to make a wish to return to this breathtaking city. My wish? A performance under the starry sky in the heart of this ancient, romantic city!

In the evening, I indulged in a magical treat. An enchanting ballet performance of Romeo and Juliet. I sat spellbound in the beautiful Teatro dell’Opera di Roma.

It was breathtaking, the emotions radiating from every dancer, the passion woven into every twirl and leap, echoing the story of a love destined to triumph. The atmosphere was electric with the thrill of the performance, and the theatre’s opulent décor was almost as magical as the ballet itself!

The next day, I was up early and out the door to explore the Pantheon. As I stood gazing up at that enormous hole in the dome, the open-air view of the sky reminded me of a ballet studio’s mirrored walls.

And that’s not all! Rome has the most amazing art and architecture. From the grandeur of the Vatican City to the enchanting Borghese Gallery and the beauty of the Trevi Fountain, it truly is a city where history comes alive.

Every corner, every building, and every sculpture seems to whisper with a vibrant history.

Day 4: Food, Fashion, and More Pink Tutues

My fourth day in Rome was a delicious affair! Let's talk food, darling! I indulged in the most scrumptious pizzas and pasta, savouring every mouthful. You know me! I'm a huge foodie, so finding amazing treats in Rome was pure bliss! I even discovered a local market selling the most decadent handmade pastries – they looked too pretty to eat! But eat them I did!

Later, I had the best afternoon exploring the Via Condotti and discovering stylish boutiques hidden away on the city's enchanting back streets. You'll never guess what I found in a vintage store tucked away between two designer stores.

A vintage pink tutu! And the best part? It came with a matching vintage bolero, and a pair of tiny ballet slippers – just perfect for a graceful tumble through the cobbled streets.

Travel Time

Traveling by train between Florence and Rome was an experience I won't soon forget! The journey itself was just as enchanting as the cities themselves, and a welcome break from exploring the wonders of the two amazing cities.

Looking out of the window, the scenery of rolling hills, vineyards, and quaint little villages rushed past. It felt as if I was gliding through the pages of a classic novel. There was something incredibly calming about watching the world flow by as the train whisked me towards a new adventure. And I think it deserves a blog post of its own, just because the romance of a train journey, in the beauty of Tuscany, was breathtaking.

But then, a train journey for a pink tutu wearing blogger is always about looking glamorous.

My tips for looking good on a long train journey? Wear comfortable shoes, something cute but not too flashy (there are fashion tips galore on www.pink-tutu.com if you’re looking for inspiration), and carry a fabulously fashionable accessory like a handbag adorned with your signature touch - like a beautiful pink ribbon. Don’t forget your ballet slippers! If you’re looking for something a little more adventurous, try a pair of pink ballet-style shoes! (Again, more on that on www.pink-tutu.com. Just promise to look fabulous and be safe on those platforms!)

So, Rome, you've captured my heart with your rich history, artistic spirit, and delicious food, not to mention the stunning fashion. This fabulous pink tutu-wearing blogger is definitely returning for more! I already have my next adventure in mind: Venice!

Don’t forget, darlings, it’s a big world, full of wonderful things just waiting to be discovered! And my pink tutus will be with me, dancing their way across it, and helping everyone get to where they need to go. After all, that’s what a pink tutu should be, your faithful companion!

But that’s enough from me for now. It’s time to explore! Don’t forget to check out www.pink-tutu.com and to find me on social media - we can share more travel tales, fashion fun, ballet gossip, and of course, the latest news from your favorite pink tutu wearing travel blogger!
