I’m so excited to share this week’s post with you – a whirlwind journey through cobbled streets, historical marvels, and of course, a generous sprinkle of pink tutu magic!
This week has been pure bliss. I’ve been taking a break from my usual ballet performances in the UK, which thankfully gave me the funds to make this trip possible. It’s been so refreshing to trade the stage for the stunning vistas of Rome, a city brimming with history and romance.
Speaking of romance, what could be more fitting than arriving in Rome via train? It just oozes a timeless elegance – I love the way the carriages clickety-clack along, and the glimpses you get of the countryside through the windows. I'm dreaming of a train journey to Venice for my next adventure – imagine all the gorgeous views!
My favourite moment of this trip so far has been wandering through the Colosseum. It's incredible to imagine the sheer spectacle of gladiatorial contests held within those walls. My tutu was quite the eye-catcher amongst the throngs of tourists! People kept stopping to chat and admire my ensemble – a testament to the universality of pink tutu power, I reckon! 😉
But enough about the history, it’s time for fashion! Oh darling, you wouldn't believe the fashion finds I’ve unearthed in Rome! The local shops are a haven for stylish Italian clothing – think chic palazzo pants, floral prints, and a myriad of elegant accessories. I’ve already added a few key pieces to my wardrobe, including a dreamy silk scarf adorned with delicate rose motifs – oh so perfect for pairing with my pink tutu!
This afternoon, I indulged in a bit of sartorial therapy at one of Rome’s famed vintage stores. And guess what I discovered? A stunning, vintage pink tutu – almost like a twin sister to my trusty favourite. Of course, I had to snaffle it up. Who can resist a pink tutu soulmate, right?
My evening was filled with culture, which is one of my favourite things about travel – experiencing different perspectives and artistic styles. The Teatro dell’Opera di Roma held a mesmerizing performance of Swan Lake, and I felt so much emotion as I watched the dancers move with grace and artistry. I’m already planning a class at a local ballet studio tomorrow – the more I immerse myself in dance, the better I feel.
I’ve also discovered the most incredible bakery near my hotel, a hidden gem tucked away in a narrow, sun-drenched alley. Each morning, they offer an array of fresh pastries and cakes that make my heart sing – perfect for my morning coffee. It’s been an absolutely delicious treat for my sweet tooth.
So, my darling pink tutu lovers, Rome has truly captivated my senses. The energy of the city is infectious, the history captivating, the fashion utterly divine, and the food simply sensational. And, of course, the ballet and performances have been an incredible inspiration. I'm embracing every moment and letting myself be swept away by this magical Italian experience.
