Pink Tutu Rome: #1221 - La Dolce Vita in a Tutu! š©°š®š¹
Ciao bella! Itās your favourite pink tutu-wearing travel blogger Emma, back from the Eternal City ā Rome!
This week's adventure brought me to the heart of Italy, where cobblestone streets whispered stories of emperors and gladiators, and gelato stood in tempting pyramids in every window. I even got to celebrate Halloween here! Now, that's a spooky Italian night you won't forget!
This trip to Rome was, well, extraordinarily pink. The city practically screamed for a tutu, from the blush-hued sunsets to the soft pink roses bursting from terracotta pots in courtyard gardens. And of course, I made sure I was the pinkest thing in the frame.
Let's dive into the details, shall we?
Getting ThereNow, any good ballerina knows that travelling by train is the way to go! Especially in Europe! Not only does it allow you to see the gorgeous scenery, but it also gives me ample time to stretch out and warm up my legs for all the exploring I'm about to do.
Speaking of exploring... My journey began in Derbyshire, England. Leaving the green rolling hills behind, I found myself transported to the bustling platform of Gare du Nord in Paris. Paris! A quick change into a more travel-appropriate outfit (my tutu was still safely tucked away in its bag!) and I boarded the sleek Eurostar for a smooth journey south to Rome.
La Piazza Navona: Pink, Purple andā¦ Panna Cotta! My first stop was the iconic Piazza Navona, a glorious open space overflowing with art, life, and the scent of freshly-brewed coffee. It was a feast for the senses, and of course, my favourite pink outfit, this time a sequined top and matching tutu, blended seamlessly with the colours of Rome.
The baroque fountains, the street performers, the vibrant artwork for sale ā it was truly mesmerising. As I admired the Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi, I realised something rather fascinating. It seemed Rome's own colours, a vibrant blend of pinks, purples, golds and terracotta, matched my favourite colour palette! It's like this city was tailor-made for a tutu-clad traveller like me!
The highlight of Piazza Navona was the panna cotta I enjoyed. Creamy, smooth, and sweet, it was a perfect antidote to the hustle and bustle of the square.
Shopping in RomeThe shopping in Rome was nothing short of amazing. I snagged the most gorgeous blush-coloured scarf from a street vendor in Campo de' Fiori. Then, I popped into a small boutique near the Pantheon, where I found a pair of ballet slippers that are perfect for practicing those fouettĆ© turns, especially on Romeās charming cobblestones!
And I must confess, the shoes... oh, the shoes! Rome is a shoe-lover's paradise! Every window is a display of elegant stilettos, ankle boots with intricate details, and flat sandals with just a touch of sparkle. Iām still trying to justify buying that gorgeous pair of pink suede ankle boots, but I might just need to do it for a future outfit postā¦ š
An Evening of BalletMy Wednesday in Rome wouldn't have been complete without experiencing the magic of ballet. Luckily, there was a captivating show at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, featuring some of the finest dancers Iāve ever seen. They swirled across the stage with grace and passion, telling a beautiful story with their every move. It was the perfect blend of elegance and excitement, and even though I was in the audience, I found myself itching to join in!
Speaking of ballet, have I mentioned how excited I am for the Bolshoi Balletās tour? I managed to get tickets to see Giselle in Moscow later this year. Itās going to be breathtaking! If you're planning a trip, I highly recommend catching a show - you wonāt regret it!
Celebrating HalloweenHalloween in Rome wasnāt exactly a haunted affair. However, the locals had some fun dressing up in spooky outfits. I found some incredibly stylish costumes: think witchy boots, sequinned gothic dresses, and even a black lace tutu, although I opted for my signature pink with some subtle Halloween details - a black tulle bow on my pink ballerina bun.
Of course, no Halloween adventure would be complete without delicious treats! I sampled a wonderfully spiced pumpkin biscotti, which tasted incredible with a hot cup of coffee. There was even a small, local costume contest in a nearby cafƩ! I was so happy to win with my spooky-sweet pink ensemble. It made me feel so at home in Rome, despite it being a little bit further from Derbyshire than usual.
What I Learned: It's all About PinkIāve always believed that pink isnāt just a colour, itās an attitude! Itās a symbol of confidence, femininity, and a dash of magic. My Rome trip reminded me of that. From the pastel sunsets to the flowers bursting from terracotta pots, Rome itself is embracing its own version of āpink.ā I discovered the vibrant, almost romantic, side of pink, in all its unique shades. It was a feeling that radiated from every corner, and made the entire experience all the more beautiful and memorable.
So, whatās next? My next adventure? Paris, for a fashion extravaganza, and maybe some new tutus. After all, the ultimate goal is to get everyone in the world wearing pink tutus. And Rome has definitely convinced me: itās more than possible, even in the Eternal City.
Ciao bella!
Until next week,
Emma.
