The Italian capital has welcomed me with open arms and, as always, I'm feeling positively radiant in my latest pink tutu creation - a whimsical affair of soft tulle and delicate pink roses, perfectly paired with a white crochet cardigan for those cooler Roman evenings.
This week, I'm diving deep into the heart of this ancient city, discovering hidden gems, exploring world-famous sights, and indulging in a little Roman fashion therapy (of course!). This city really has it all! Majestic monuments, buzzing piazzas, charming cafes, and stunning architecture that makes my heart skip a beat - truly a feast for the eyes and a playground for a pink tutu-wearing ballerina like me.
As I mentioned, I arrived by train, a method of travel I find absolutely charming and romantic. The Italian train journey, with its picturesque views, leisurely pace, and captivating landscape, really sets the mood for a city adventure.
Rome, with its rich history, vibrant culture, and breathtaking beauty, is truly an inspiring place. I can't help but feel a sense of wonder walking through the city's iconic streets. Everywhere I look, I'm mesmerised by the remnants of the Roman Empire. I stood awe-struck before the Colosseum, feeling its grandeur wash over me, imagining the gladiators battling in its arena, the roar of the crowd filling the air.
Then, a walk through the Forum, where the ancient city once thrived, allowed me to envision Roman senators in flowing robes, debating the fate of the empire, a truly inspiring reminder of the powerful influence this city has held throughout history. And let's not forget the Pantheon, its towering dome and intricate architectural details, an ode to the Roman god, a truly remarkable masterpiece.
Of course, I couldn't resist indulging in a little fashion exploration! Rome is a fashion paradise! Boutiques bursting with vibrant colors, stylish locals effortlessly blending classic and modern pieces, and the irresistible allure of Italian leather - pure magic! I snagged a divine coral-pink scarf with delicate beading - a perfect statement piece to elevate any ensemble. It's a reminder of my vibrant journey here in the heart of Italy.
But it wasn't all sightseeing and shopping. My week here wouldn't be complete without a ballet experience, and Rome certainly didn't disappoint! The Teatro dell'Opera di Roma is a sight to behold - an architectural masterpiece, opulent and magnificent, housing some of the most incredible performances I've seen. The graceful ballet, the sweeping costumes, and the passionate performances left me breathless and awestruck. It truly was a magical evening and another highlight of my Italian escapade!
Now, I know what you're thinking - how can one possibly explore such a magnificent city in just one week? Well, you see, that's the magic of Rome. It leaves you yearning for more, with its secrets waiting to be discovered, its hidden alleyways promising exciting finds, and its vibrant atmosphere invigorating the soul.
