Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella!

Post #1237 – Wednesday, 20th February, 2019

Ciao bellas! Welcome to this week’s post from Pink Tutu Rome, and it's a cracker of a post! I hope you're ready for a whirlwind of Italian charm, fabulous fashion finds, and a little bit of ballet magic.

I can already hear you asking, "Emma, how can you possibly top last week's post about your experience at the stunning Bolshoi in Moscow? That was simply spectacular!" Well, darlings, it was spectacular! But I am here to tell you that Rome has stolen my heart just a little. Oh, and yes, you guessed it, I'm wearing a pink tutu! (Obviously!) I've decided to stick to my pink tutus and girly styles for the whole trip - let’s call it a "Pink Tutu Italy Tour." What's a girl to do when exploring Rome, but be a Pink Tutu Princess?

This week's post, like a good Italian symphony, starts with an opera – and not just any opera, but La Traviata at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma! I tell you, it was sensational! The voices, the costumes, the music - pure, unadulterated magic. We were all completely swept away!

**What can you say about the Romans? They certainly know how to live. The music was divine, the dancers exquisite (in all the best ballerina-style pink outfits of course!). It was a fantastic start to our Italian adventure! I mean, where else could you enjoy a five-course meal, a bottle of the most divine Italian red wine, and some deliciously decadent tiramisu - all before a gorgeous performance of La Traviata! It was simply divine! My Pink Tutu Tour had certainly begun with a bang.

Oh, did I mention my tutus are travelling with me? Of course, my travelling ballerina-approved bag packed all my gorgeous Pink Tutues and they all got to come along for the journey - right from Derbyshire, England. And for those who missed the "Pink Tutu Italy Tour," don't worry, they are getting their moment in the spotlight on my Instagram.

*Next, a trip to a fabulous little antique shop, with amazing vintage outfits and hats. You'll just have to check out the Pink Tutu Instagram for pics! They definitely brought out my vintage-lover and we found the most amazing pieces. You know, sometimes when I go to Rome, or Paris, or even Moscow, it's so great to delve into the fashion heritage of a city. I just love discovering the stories behind all the amazing vintage pieces I find. I especially like getting advice from shop keepers. One tip is, to look for unique fabrics and colours. Then I buy and bring them back with me to my home in England - it is perfect to pair with a pink tutu of course! * *I feel the same about the food in a country, and Italian food has its own history and cultural tradition and what an amazing one it is! *

And after a glorious morning of antique treasures and a little shopping spree for some more outfits to wear on our "Pink Tutu Italy Tour," * (more about that later!), we made our way to a cute little restaurant nestled amongst the Roman streets - my, what a view - it made for a delicious *Pink Tutu Lunchtime Picnic. We sat on a tiny cobbled street with the warm sunshine beaming down upon us. How delightful! It’s this relaxed and unhurried pace of Italian life that I find so refreshing. I was especially captivated by the Italian style, particularly the way they all looked - all that natural colour - it made my pink tutus pop even more.

This part of our Roman journey involved lots of delicious Italian fare and a bottle of the most divine sparkling wine. We simply couldn’t get enough! My favourite has got to be pasta alla carbonara, I've got to tell you - it’s heaven on a plate! I may have already indulged in a little bit of gelato… because I had a few moments, and why not? Oh, and I almost forgot to tell you about the "best of" for my "Pink Tutu Italian Food" list.

It’s gotta be the pizza from a tiny pizzeria in a small village, where they used their outdoor pizza oven and they have only three options. A Margherita - simple and delicious. It's pure perfection and such a simple, but yummy pizza! I had it twice in three days. That is what they call pizza heaven! It’s just an incredible little slice of life in a small village. I love these sorts of places to enjoy local life.

Our day wrapped up with a stroll around the famous Roman Forum, and that’s when I knew – the "Pink Tutu Italy Tour" was definitely the perfect choice. I'm still beaming over the sheer beauty of these historical treasures. The colours, the stories, and the sheer energy of this place simply takes you on a journey in time - all whilst in the presence of this magnificent city. What could be better than being lost amongst these ancient structures with the cobbles beneath my Pink Tutu's pink layers.

And that is how my "Pink Tutu Italy Tour" ended its day! Tomorrow, my dear friends, is a brand new adventure - I will let you know in my next blog post. But if you can’t wait - join my Pink Tutu World on Instagram! And my gorgeous Instagram fans are just bursting with more Pink Tutu ideas. It’s such an inspirational community, full of the most incredible outfits, make up tips, and life experiences!

Until next week when I return with another installment of Pink Tutu Rome. Ciao Bella, darlings!

"The best part of travel is the unknown! Every destination offers new opportunities. Whether a walk along the streets of ancient Rome, a tour of a beautiful chateau in the Loire Valley or even just an ice-cream in Derbyshire England!"

Ciao, Emma xx
