Ciao Bella! It’s Emma here, and I’m absolutely thrilled to be back with you all from the magnificent city of Rome! 🇮🇹 Yes, I know, another amazing European capital conquered by yours truly! This week, I’m diving headfirst into the world of Italian history, culture, food… and, of course, finding the perfect places to twirl in my pink tutu!
Rome: Where Ancient meets Fashionable!
As soon as my train pulled into Roma Termini, I felt that electrifying energy that only a historical city can possess. The air hummed with the echoes of emperors, gladiators, and artists, but there was also this fantastically modern, bustling energy. It's as though the city embraces both the ancient and the contemporary, and I am totally embracing that vibe!
Day One: Ancient Wonders & Shopping for Twirling Treats!
My first stop had to be the Colosseum. Walking around those ancient ruins, I imagined the crowds cheering, the gladiators battling… It was simply awe-inspiring. And guess what? My pink tutu perfectly complemented the weathered stone and dusty history! 😉 The light hitting the tulle as I posed for a few photos… magic!
After the Colosseum, it was time to tackle another of Rome’s must-see attractions: the Trevi Fountain. The legend says that if you toss a coin into the water, you’re destined to return to Rome one day. I chucked in two… because two is always better than one! 😜 Afterwards, I wandered around the stunning Piazza Navona. There’s just so much beauty here, so many cobblestone streets to twirl down. My tutu really got noticed!
A Glimpse into Roman Luxury!
Now, a visit to Rome wouldn't be complete without a little indulgence, right? And who better to indulge me than my favourite Italian luxury label, Versace. I found myself lost in their flagship store, where my heart literally did a pirouette. Oh, those shimmering gowns, those glittering jewels, and those shoes! A girl could practically live here. I’m sure I made some good choices… maybe I’ll have to do a separate post with all the details!
Rome at Night: Romantic Twirls and Italian Treats!
The evening brought a magical ballet performance at the Teatro dell'Opera. It was an extraordinary performance by some incredibly talented dancers. The set was opulent, the choreography captivating, and the costumes simply breathtaking! Honestly, it took my breath away… and made me realise how lucky I am to be pursuing my ballet dream.
Pasta, Pizza and a Little Prosecco:
How could you possibly talk about Rome without mentioning the food! I am definitely embracing every last morsel of Italian cuisine. Fresh pasta? YES PLEASE! Pizza topped with creamy mozzarella and juicy tomatoes? YES YES YES! And don't even get me started on the gelaterias! My favourite flavours have been pistachio and stracciatella – absolutely divine! And to finish it all off? A little glass of Prosecco with my dinner. This is definitely how a tutu-wearing ballerina lives it up in Rome!
The Pink Tutu Charm Continues...
The great thing about travelling in my tutu is that it always creates such interesting conversations. In Rome, I had a little girl squeal with excitement and ask if I was a real princess, a group of teenagers snap a picture with me because they’d never seen anything like it before, and a man, clearly a huge fan of ballet, stopped to compliment my graceful moves. I even had a street artist paint me into his mural – I mean, talk about an epic memory!
Looking Forward: Roman Adventure Awaits!
I’m so excited to spend the rest of the week exploring this fabulous city. I plan on visiting the Borghese Gallery and the Pantheon, taking a romantic gondola ride on the Tiber River, and trying to fit in as many pizza and pasta meals as possible! Who knows, I might even pick up a few more accessories and tutus… there are just so many opportunities to explore the fashion scene here.
