I'm in Rome, baby! This beautiful city is everything I hoped for and more!
It’s Wednesday and, as always, you’ll find me here on Pink Tutu, bringing you another fun-filled travel diary entry. I have just returned from the most fabulous afternoon in the Coliseum - truly breathtaking - but we’ll get to that later.
First, let me tell you about the journey here!
Travelling to Rome from Derbyshire by train was an absolute dream. I mean, it was about 14 hours on a train, but for me, a train is an experience, a part of the journey and just another opportunity to spread the Pink Tutu joy.
I donned a vibrant pink tutu with silver sparkly straps and a chic, vintage Chanel-inspired handbag. Of course, I made sure to accessorise with a matching pink fascinator and pearl earrings for a touch of old Hollywood glam! You never know who you might meet on a train journey - and this one did not disappoint!
Let’s just say there were a couple of cheeky men trying to flirt with me in my pink tutu. But the power of a pink tutu? Oh, the sheer authority of it! They realised they couldn’t match my sparkle! The ladies around me? They were all beaming! I even had an elderly gentleman offer me some biscuits - talk about a 'sweet' journey!
After the excitement of the train ride, I checked into my little B&B, tucked away in the charming Trastevere neighbourhood. The streets here are just magical. They’re narrow and cobbled, full of cute cafes, and overflowing with the aroma of freshly baked bread. It's so delightful and absolutely brimming with history! I mean, just think of all the Roman gladiators that once strolled these very same streets.
You just can’t resist taking in the vibrant beauty all around. And for a ballerina like myself, it’s the ultimate source of inspiration for my performances! So you can bet your bottom dollar that I already have several ideas for a special Pink Tutu ballet piece inspired by my Italian adventure!
Speaking of ballet, my Italian adventures wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, one of the most prestigious opera houses in the world. Tomorrow, I’ll be indulging in a showstopping evening of ballet featuring the divine Tchaikovsky - I am so thrilled!
And now, a little about the amazing Colosseum I told you about earlier! This majestic amphitheater - well, you can just feel the energy! Imagine the roaring crowds, the clash of swords, the thrill of gladiatorial combat! It sends shivers down my spine just thinking about it. I practically whipped out my Pink Tutu and did a little twirl inside! Honestly, who can resist a twirl when surrounded by so much history? And just wait until you see my pictures, I took the most gorgeous photos - in my tutu, of course!
While it’s still relatively early, I already feel like Rome has truly captured my heart. It’s a vibrant blend of old and new, with so much to see, so much to experience and a plethora of shopping options! Every street is like a fairytale! I even spotted the sweetest little boutique yesterday with a fabulous display of pink tutus – although, not quite on par with my own Pink Tutu collection!

P.S It’s now evening, and as promised, I just had to give you a little update after my evening at the opera. It was truly spectacular! We were lucky enough to get the best seats, practically at the front! It's so fantastic to have an opera house with a vibrant pink facade, just perfect!
Speaking of pink... it is true that Rome is an absolute wonderland of shopping! Today, I indulged in some retail therapy. Oh, the delights of discovering hidden little shops brimming with chic outfits, unique accessories and elegant shoes!
After indulging in a heavenly afternoon tea, featuring delectable pastries and a charming pink teapot, I wandered down a street lined with quirky little boutiques, each a treasure trove of delightful surprises. The window displays alone could rival the best fashion show, and the air is thick with the aroma of artisan fragrances and leather goods.
This journey truly does make me appreciate the simple pleasures, a slice of delicious pizza, the gentle sway of the trees in the park, and of course, a splash of pink - every now and then. I really have been able to see that pink is everywhere!
