Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday 2019-03-20 ā La Dolce Vita!
Ciao Bella!
Itās Emma here, writing to you from sunny Rome! This is post number 1241 on my weekly blog, www.pink-tutu.com. Every Wednesday I bring you the latest updates on my travels and my never-ending quest to get everyone wearing a pink tutu!
Today Iām whisking you away on a whirlwind tour of the Eternal City, bursting with ancient ruins, delicious gelato and of course, some fabulous fashion finds!
A Train Journey Filled with Romance
As usual, I took the train to get here, travelling all through the night. There's something magical about the romance of rail journeys. You wake up to a whole new world, brimming with possibilities! And honestly, thereās nothing like sipping your coffee as the sun rises over a beautiful countryside, right? This morning I watched as rolling green hills gave way to the sprawling landscape of Rome, feeling like a princess arriving at a fairytale palace.
First Stop: The Trevi Fountain!
It wouldn't be a trip to Rome without a visit to the legendary Trevi Fountain! The moment I saw its majestic marble curves, a rush of excitement surged through me. This wasnāt just a fountain, this was a masterpiece! I threw a coin into the fountain, just as tradition dictates, and wished for a lifetime of dance filled adventures, and thenā¦. cue dramatic pause ā¦ snap, snapā¦. flash, flash.
Let's be honest, everyone's gotta get the perfect picture! You just can't visit this beautiful spot and not immortalise the moment, right? So, picture this: me in my vibrant pink tutu, strategically positioned in front of the cascading waters, hair blowing in the wind, my best ballet-pose smile perfectly captured in the photo!
Discovering Roman Fashion and a Shopping Spree!
Of course, my next stop had to be Rome's iconic Via Condotti! I simply had to indulge in some serious fashion therapy! This street is a haven for high-end designers and couture boutiques. Each shop window seemed to whisper promises of a stylish transformation. I couldnāt resist venturing into Valentino and Fendi, where the colours and textures felt like an artistās palette exploded with glamour!
I'm not saying I walked out with a bag full of designer loot...but I did buy a new pink silk scarf, emblazoned with an elegant rose pattern, which I just knew would perfectly complement my next performance outfit!
Rome: The Theatre of Dreams
This evening I went to see a spectacular ballet performance at the Teatro dellāOpera di Roma. The grandeur of the opera house took my breath away. As I glided into the auditorium in my shimmering tutu, heads turned. There's a confidence that comes with a pink tutu. You walk into any space with a sense of āLook at me!ā but also a playful and slightly quirky āLetās have some fun!ā
The show itself was an unforgettable masterpiece, a beautifully choreographed story that moved me to tears. I was mesmerized by the graceful leaps and pirouettes, the dancers' passion pouring out in every gesture. And afterwards? Thereās no better place for a celebration of the arts than at a Parisian-style cafĆ© with a steaming cup of cappuccino, reminiscing on the beauty I'd just experienced.
Food, Glory and More Food!
My time in Rome has been an explosion of sensory delights! I'm on a mission to try every delicious Italian treat imaginable! So far I've indulged in:
- Cacio e pepe pasta: Oh my goodness, this was pure comfort food heaven! Perfectly creamy with just the right amount of sharp cheese. It's a good thing my tutu has elastic!
- **Pizza: * * Rome is known for its fantastic pizza! From wood-fired, crispy perfection to classic Margherita, there's something for every palate.
- *Gelato: * Did you know Rome has some of the best gelato in the world? Iāve tried every flavour, and each one was divine! You can find amazing little gelaterias on almost every corner.
The pink tutu on a quest to spread the pink tutu messageā¦
During my walks around the city, I have been getting people to pose with me in a pink tutu and weāve been sharing it on my Instagram, to celebrate the beauty and diversity of people all around the world. If you are in Rome and would love to join us, don't be shy. It's just a pink tutu!
This isn't a goodbye, itās just arrivederci!
The Romans have a saying, āLa vita ĆØ bella!ā (Life is beautiful!) and Rome is certainly living up to its reputation. As I head back to Derbyshire on Friday, I'm already planning my next adventure! Follow my travels and be inspired to add a pink tutu to your wardrobe! Until next week!
