Pink Tutu Rome - #1289
Ciao, darlings!
It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another installment of my Roman adventures! The sun is shining, the air is crisp, and I'm ready to take on this gorgeous city with a pep in my step, and of course, a tutu in my heart. This week, I’m waltzing my way through the vibrant streets of Rome, embracing every cultural treat this city has to offer.
Remember that dream I had to see Rome? The Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, the ancient Roman ruins? Well, I’m living it! And what's even better is I’m doing it my way - pink tutu, killer stilettos, and a smile that could rival the brilliance of the Sistine Chapel.
Fashionably Finding Myself in the Eternal City
You guys, it’s hard to top the majestic scenery in Rome, but the fashion is a close contender. Italian style is legendary! Just the other day, I found myself captivated by a street performer outside the Pantheon - a violinist clad in a crisp, white shirt, a sleek, charcoal-grey suit, and a fedora perched effortlessly on his head. And you know what? His violin was bright pink! Talk about fashion meeting culture.
My Current Obsession: Rome's Breathtaking Beauty
Every corner I turn, I’m captivated by the sheer architectural beauty of Rome. I’ve found myself mesmerised by the intricate details of the Trevi Fountain. Every archway, every carving - a work of art. Even the pigeons in Rome are well-dressed! I think I saw one wearing a tiny scarf today, and let’s just say it rocked the look.
Roman Indulgences: Food, Fashion, and Festivities
Oh my goodness, darling, this food! I've indulged in mouthwatering pasta dishes, pizza so thin it disappears before your eyes, and tiramisu so delicious it makes my head spin! The creamy gelato is divine and definitely worthy of a few photos for my Instagram (follow me @EmmaPinkTutu if you haven’t already!) The Italian flair for the theatrical doesn’t just extend to their fashion and food, even the way they deliver a glass of wine is almost a performance.
Speaking of fashion, I’ve found some absolutely divine designer pieces at a few chic shops on Via Condotti. A stunning pink satin scarf with delicate embroidery and some truly beautiful vintage earrings that make even the most simple dress feel extravagant. And to make the whole trip even better, I got to catch a performance at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma! Ballet, opera, fashion...the whole experience was absolutely breathtaking! I'm not ashamed to say, I cried happy tears during the final curtain.
A Whirlwind Week
The days here are packed with sightseeing, coffee breaks, fashion browsing and delicious meals! This past week, we visited the Colosseum - wow! The size and grandeur of that place will leave you speechless. I've spent hours soaking up the ancient energy of the Forum, wandering through the catacombs, and marvelling at the incredible artwork in the Vatican.
This past Sunday, we got the chance to see the world-famous changing of the guard at the Vatican. It's a spectacular display of history and military precision, and a must-see for any visitor to Rome!
My Favourite Travel Companion
Okay, so you all know I'm a train girl through and through. There's just something about the rhythm of the tracks, the windows whisking past and the sense of adventure that fills the air. And, my travel essential - the tutu of course! The fabric is light and breezy and takes up so little space in my luggage. You’ve never travelled comfortably until you’ve done it in a tutu! Don’t be afraid to experiment, darling! You’ll love the freedom of a well-placed pink tutu!
Looking Ahead:
The weekend is upon us, which means a chance for more adventures. On our list is exploring Trastevere, the heart of bohemian Rome. It’s known for its quaint alleyways, quirky boutiques, and its bustling nightlife.
Coming up on Pink Tutu Rome: A Tuscan Excursion
I know what you're thinking, "Emma, you haven't been here long enough to go elsewhere." But I am all about embracing opportunities. I'll be heading to Tuscany in a couple of days, exploring the charming medieval towns and tasting some of the best wines Italy has to offer! I will of course keep you updated! And as a special treat, we’ll be joining a dance class - Italian style - with an Italian ballet legend. Who knows, I may even pick up some new moves for a future performance.
Until Next Week, Darlings
Well, my dears, that's all for now. But don’t worry, this is only the first chapter in my Rome story. I’ve got a million photos to post and many more Roman tales to tell! Remember to visit the www.pink-tutu.com blog for more fun. See you next Wednesday!
With a twirl and a kiss, Emma
