Pink Tutu Rome: Post #1307 - 24th June 2020

Ciao Bella! It's Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing blogger, writing to you live from the Eternal City, Rome! This week, we're embracing the warmth, the gelato, and the vibrant energy that makes Rome so special. So buckle up, dear readers, and grab a slice of pizza, because it's time for another Pink Tutu adventure!

This past Wednesday, I found myself whisked away from Derbyshire on the most magical train journey - I swear the Italian countryside looks straight out of a Monet painting, just full of those lovely warm, earthy colours. It's amazing how travelling by train opens up a whole new way of seeing a place. You can gaze out the window, and watch the scenery fly by, noticing little details you'd miss in a car.

First Stop: Colosseum and the Trevi Fountain

Once in Rome, it was straight to the Colosseum. I absolutely loved it! The history was just incredible, and it’s even more impressive than the photos! My heart just ached thinking about the gladiatorial contests that took place there. Such a fascinating piece of history. It's incredible to think how many people have stood right where you’re standing, and what they’d witnessed! I wore my favourite cherry pink tutu for the occasion, and I couldn’t resist twirling a little on the marble steps. Just imagine how magnificent this place must have been in its heyday.

After the Colosseum, I went to see the Trevi Fountain. It was breathtaking, simply breathtaking. The scale, the artistry, the myth, it’s so fascinating! And let's not forget the custom - you can't leave Rome without throwing a coin in the fountain! They say that if you toss a coin in the Trevi Fountain, you'll one day return to Rome. Well, I threw in two. Just in case! 😉

Shopping Splurge and Delicious Gelato

A day in Rome wouldn't be complete without a little shopping! The streets were simply bursting with life and character - and beautiful clothes! I discovered a little boutique with the most exquisite silk scarves, with their beautiful pink and lavender hues. You can bet your bottom dollar I snagged one!

Then it was gelato time! Let me tell you, Italian gelato is on another level. This silky smooth, delicious dessert, with all the flavors under the sun, it just takes my tastebuds on a little trip! I found a fantastic gelato shop just around the corner from my little hotel - just steps from the Pantheon!

I think it's a fundamental life principle to make every meal, especially those while travelling, a treat, don't you?

Cultural Delight - Romeo and Juliet Ballet at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma

Speaking of treats, on Friday, I was so lucky to get tickets to the Romeo and Juliet ballet at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. You guys - the entire evening was truly special. The grandeur of the opera house, the passionate performance of the dancers, the dramatic music – just breathtaking. It reminded me of the power of dance to express feelings, to create an experience, to touch your soul. I felt utterly swept away in the romance of it all! And for all of you thinking that you might be intimidated to see a ballet performance in Italy, I was delighted to find the audience so diverse! Everyone from families with young children to older couples enjoying an evening out. The common factor was a genuine appreciation for the art form! It's such a joyous and vibrant way to spend an evening.

I even bought myself a lovely hand-painted, limited-edition pink tutu for my collection! It will be perfect for a very special event later this year.

Pink Tutu Goals - Sharing the Pink Tutu Love

Oh, and speaking of pink tutus, a special moment from my day: I bumped into a sweet young girl dressed in a pretty pink tulle dress. As I got a little closer, she beamed a little smile and then… SHE POINTED AT MY PINK TUTU. I instantly felt a rush of happiness, and all of a sudden, I was transported back to the magical feeling of dressing up in a sparkly tutu and spinning round and round, the world just blurring into beautiful colors. Then it hit me: she was just a little girl with dreams in her heart. Perhaps she too wanted to be a ballerina! Perhaps she too felt empowered and confident in her outfit! Maybe, just maybe, this little encounter made her believe that she too could be bold and chase after her dreams. And just maybe, this small moment will inspire other people to embrace their individuality and sparkle with their own unique style!

This is the Pink Tutu philosophy, spreading joy, and encouraging everyone to find their inner ballerina - pink tutus and all. You never know who you might inspire, what doors might open.

So that brings me to the end of another amazing week in the heart of Rome. Until next time, dear readers!
