#PinkTutuRome - Week 1360: Roman Holiday!
Buongiorno, darlings! It's Emma, your pink-loving, tutu-wearing travel blogger, back from a whirlwind adventure in the Eternal City - Rome! Buckle up, because this week's post is going to be packed with more pink than a flamingo in a candy store!
As a seasoned traveller, I've done my fair share of flying, but this time, I decided to embrace the romantic charm of Italy and opted for a scenic train journey from Derbyshire. Every clickety-clack on the tracks was music to my ears as I watched the world go by, imagining the delicious Italian feasts, majestic Colosseum, and of course, the gorgeous fashion that awaited me in Rome.
Stepping onto the platform at Termini station, I felt a surge of excitement. Rome was calling, and I, well, I was ready to answer! The air buzzed with life, the scents of freshly baked bread and jasmine wafting through the air, and I immediately knew that this city was going to be my new favourite playground.
The Roman Dance
Of course, my first priority had to be finding a ballet performance. I scoured the local papers and online listings until I found the perfect one: "The Sleeping Beauty" by the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. The opera house was a stunning building, oozing history and glamour, and my heart nearly skipped a beat when I caught my first glimpse of the intricate stage set. The performance was truly enchanting, filled with graceful pirouettes and powerful leaps, each dancer captivating me with their skill and artistry. I left the theatre feeling utterly inspired, and my brain already brimming with ideas for my next ballet creation.
Pink in the Piazza
After a morning of twirling, it was time for some retail therapy! Rome is a shopper's paradise, with countless boutiques tucked away in hidden alleyways and streets lined with luxury brand stores. Of course, my focus was on finding some perfect pieces to add to my own pink-hued wardrobe. I ended up at the most fabulous boutique called "Il Ballo Rosa", with a pink awning and displays overflowing with the most delightful pink accessories, dresses, and shoes imaginable. They even had a section dedicated to pink tutus! I knew I had found a treasure trove!
I couldn't resist indulging in a delightful gelato at the Piazza Navona after my shopping spree. The creamy vanilla with fresh strawberries, served in a delicate pink waffle cone, was the perfect antidote to my shopping-induced excitement. I enjoyed it, watching street performers dance and sing, and it felt like I had stepped right into a Renaissance painting!
The Eternal City's Flavours
Of course, no visit to Rome would be complete without savouring the delicious cuisine! After enjoying a decadent spaghetti alla carbonara, I found myself at a bustling outdoor trattoria, surrounded by locals and families enjoying hearty pasta dishes and plates of steaming pizza. The laughter and chatter of the evening symphony played in the background as I feasted on the freshest seafood I've ever tasted. The Italians really do have a gift for enjoying the simple things in life!
To-do List
The weekend is almost here, and Rome has a list of adventures just waiting for me. Tomorrow I plan to visit the Colosseum, its grandeur echoing the timeless stories of Roman gladiators. After that, it's a visit to the Pantheon, an architectural masterpiece that inspires awe with its sheer scale and beauty.
As for my wardrobe, my luggage is starting to bulge with new treasures from Il Ballo Rosa. I’ve got a silk scarf with tiny pink roses, a pair of coral-pink stilettoes for my evening outings, and, of course, a beautiful, fluffy pink tutu!
Embrace the Pink!
Rome is a vibrant, beautiful, and incredibly inspiring city. I've learned so much about Italian culture, and, most importantly, I've been reminded that life is about embracing every moment, whether you’re enjoying a delicious pasta dish or spinning through a crowded piazza in your favourite pink tutu.
So remember, darlings, never be afraid to add a splash of pink to your world! Embrace your individuality and let your light shine! Don't forget to join me next Wednesday for more Roman adventures, filled with pink, ballet, and maybe a little bit of gelato! Ciao!
