Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella, Italy! 🇮🇹
#PinkTutuRome | Post #1361 | Wednesday, 2021-07-07
Buongiorno, darlings! This week, I'm bringing you sunshine, gelato, and Roman elegance – all from the heart of the Eternal City. Buckle up, because it's a Pink Tutu adventure like no other!
I can't believe it's been almost two months since I last graced these blog pages with a travel escapade. It's been a whirlwind of pirouettes and performances, back in my Derbyshire home, but my insatiable wanderlust has finally pulled me towards Italy. And believe me, this Roman adventure is going to be a dazzling display of vibrant energy, historic beauty, and, of course, plenty of pink tutus.
This journey was all made possible by a stunning solo performance at the prestigious Derbyshire Theatre. A truly beautiful experience. Those twirling under the stage lights always fund the grandest Pink Tutu escapades – and there's no place better for a Pink Tutu escape than Rome.
A Trip of a Lifetime (With a Tutu, Naturally!)
Now, let's be real, I’m not here just for the Colosseum (although, it is breathtaking! Imagine the Roman Empire with all their fabulous tunics...I bet a couple of tutus would've slipped into the fashion scene). My heart beats for Italian fashion, darling. So, you can bet your bottom dollar that every single shop, boutique, and market will be scoured for that perfect, blush-tinted piece of paradise. A touch of pink for a splash of elegance, I always say.
Speaking of splashes of elegance, the train journey to Rome was a masterpiece! Oh, the beauty of travelling by rail – it’s truly a romantic affair, full of breathtaking views and, of course, plenty of time to gaze admiringly at the stunning, and always stylish, fellow passengers. Ahem, darling. Ahem! I even spied a cute couple in matching pink luggage! (If only they’d had some pink tutus! What a dream.)
My Roman Itinerary
But first, let's dive into this whirlwind week's itinerary:
Wednesday: * Arrived in Rome! *Fancied myself into my hotel suite (with a breathtaking view – the Romans really do know how to capture a panoramic view!) It felt truly fabulous to simply relax, soak in the Italian energy and, of course, treat myself to a heavenly, creamy, **pink gelato. The pink sunset over Rome, seen from the hotel balcony, truly set the tone for this pink tutu Roman escapade.
Thursday: Rome is alive with stunning churches, my dears. My favorite, of course, was St Peter’s Basilica. All those soaring, intricately designed domes and graceful statues, it’s simply mesmerizing! Imagine the ballet performance you could put on there! (Imagine if there was just one gigantic pink tutu, you could have the whole Vatican City under the dress – what an epic visual! I will let you know when I can find an enormous, fabulous tutu!)
Friday: Day trip to the seaside! The Romans call it "Ostia Antica" but I'll be honest – the beach isn’t that much different from our coastline back home. Still, the Roman ruins are amazing. The Coliseum is huge, but these old ruins are simply enormous. Who built them?! How strong must those people have been?
Saturday: Roman Theatre, oh yes! I went to a beautiful show on Saturday at Teatro Argentina. This place is just gorgeous, the atmosphere was truly romantic, even though it was packed! But then, with all those stylish Roman gents, how could it not be? It's all those fabulous Italian suits...and honestly, even though a little dated in a ballet class, I’d bet some would work really well with a tulle tutu (and some lovely ballet shoes – the kind with ribbon laces!). I saw the most romantic show, about a lovelorn couple – a tragic but exquisite piece of work, truly inspiring!
Sunday: After the fabulous play on Saturday, it’s back to the sights, this time for a dose of shopping at the Via Condotti. (Okay, so there are no tutus available, even on Via Condotti. BUT, that isn’t the point! A good boutique always inspires the imagination. Maybe if you look in the right window you can pretend!) I snagged myself a delightful pink, feather-trimmed hat, which perfectly matched the elegant Italian fashion on show at this swanky Roman street! And as a perfect touch, the best pink handbag in the entire of Italy (don’t even ask how much I paid – I’m not a fool!).
Monday: My beloved Opera! This place simply exudes romance, so you bet your bottom dollar I spent the entire day wandering through it! And honestly? The Opera really is a fabulous spectacle. This building, like so many others, feels older than time. I just love places with history. It’s so important to cherish history. Oh, if these walls could talk, what stories they could tell! (Like that one time I tripped on the way in and they had to help me up – I think it went onto local folklore! Oh, darling!)
Tuesday: Shopping. Honestly, this trip is one gigantic shopping trip (a girl has needs!) – but I found a fab hat shop in Trastevere and snagged some wonderful floral ribbons – it’s always fun to change your wardrobe with ribbons, you simply cannot have enough. Oh, and of course, we went to the Forum, the Coliseum, and the Pantheon. It’s amazing. So much history and beauty in one city! (Not to mention lots of places for some dramatic poses and fabulous pictures to post back home on Instagram!).
Pink Tutu Perfection!
Speaking of posts and pictures, the most frequent questions I get are “where do you get your tutus?”, “are you doing a tour in Italy?” and “How do you manage to travel the world wearing pink tutus?” First, for tutus, it’s a secret, darlings – just wait for a post revealing my amazing tutu suppliers! For Italy, honestly I'm planning a full Pink Tutu Tour! Watch this space – coming soon to your blog feed.
But honestly, the real answer is about more than just clothes and accessories! It’s about having a vibrant sense of life! Pink tutus are all about pushing the boundaries of self-expression. To me, a tutu symbolizes something bold, powerful, feminine, and unapologetically fun. It's an invitation to step into a world where your imagination can run wild, and the only limits are the ones you set for yourself. And trust me, this city is definitely making me think big!
Rome is a wonderland of ancient wonder and captivating energy. The city bursts with life and creativity – not to mention some of the most wonderful pink accessories you could imagine. I could honestly lose myself in this city – and not just because I keep on forgetting where I am because I’m too distracted by everything going on around me!
The Pink Tutu Inspiration!
I can already tell this journey is going to inspire an incredible range of new posts for Pink Tutu. I’m just brimming with ideas! From sharing some of my favorite spots in Rome (think fashion stores with exquisite windows, or my new favorite pink-themed gelateria – I promise you’ve not seen a shop as fabulous as this) to creating some amazing content around the city's incredible history and culture (honestly, who needs a fancy new Instagram reel than these sights! It’s going to blow everyone’s minds!).
And the absolute highlight of this week's itinerary? Honestly? The people! They're incredibly friendly, welcoming, and utterly charmed by the pink tutu – that’s a guaranteed win every time! My heart truly feels full as I step into the Roman evening air. This is what Pink Tutu is all about: a life brimming with joy, style, and adventure. I promise to bring you all of the vibrant Pink Tutu joy as I continue to explore the wonders of Italy!
Ciao, Bella! See you next week.
Emma xoxo
