Pink Tutu Rome: Post 1363 - Ciao Bella, Roma!
Wednesday, 21st July 2021
Hello darlings! It's your favourite tutu-wearing travel blogger, Emma, back from the Eternal City itself - Rome! Now, I know what you're thinking, "Emma, in Rome? Isn't that a little… serious?" But don't you worry, my lovelies, even the most historical of cities can't resist the magic of a pink tutu!
I landed in Rome after a gloriously sunny train journey from Derbyshire (did I tell you how much I love train travel?). There's something so charming about watching the scenery whizz by while I daydream about all the fashion, food and fun awaiting me at my destination.
Speaking of fashion… let me tell you, Rome is a veritable paradise for the shopaholic in all of us. My pink tulle skirt is already feeling a little overwhelmed by all the fabulous clothes I’ve managed to squeeze into my suitcase. I couldn't resist snapping up some gorgeous flowing fabrics from a local market – I'm already picturing them transformed into a stunning, new performance outfit!
My first day in Rome started with a delicious breakfast of freshly baked pastries and a cappuccino in a quaint little cafe, the sunshine warming my skin and the delicious smell of freshly brewed coffee filling my senses. Afterwards, I marched off to the Vatican to admire its immense grandeur and artistry. It's hard not to feel the power of history wash over you amidst such an impressive structure.
Naturally, a good dance routine was needed to burn off all that gelato and pasta. You see, darling, I have this wonderful rule - a ballet class each day while travelling. Luckily, Rome is brimming with fantastic ballet studios. This evening, I’m off to a class with an acclaimed instructor at a prestigious ballet school in the heart of Rome. It’s exciting to learn from world-renowned talent and be part of a ballet scene as vibrant and renowned as this. I just hope my tutus survive the intensity!
One of my favourite parts about being in Rome is that I can step out of the city bustle and just stroll through the charming piazzas. Each one boasts breathtaking fountains, breathtaking architecture, and even more beautiful Italian art. I found myself gazing upon some of the city's most iconic works of art, including Michelangelo's stunning David, while reminiscing on my own dance routines, searching for inspiration and a glimpse of pure grace that I always try to channel into my performances.
Later that evening, I dined at a cozy trattoria tucked away on a cobbled side street, where I indulged in authentic pasta, all washed down with a crisp, local white wine. The owner of the restaurant, a delightful woman named Sofia, loved hearing about my pink tutu travels. It seems even in Rome, people love to chat with the Tutu Girl!
You see darlings, my goal isn’t just about exploring the world. It’s about connecting with people through shared passions. Maybe you are not quite ready for a pink tutu - but it's my aim to help everyone discover their own personal form of joy, that kind of passion that lights up their faces and fuels their hearts. I’ve found that travelling allows me to do exactly that: sharing my passion for dance and fashion with people from every corner of the globe!
I’ll tell you more about the enchanting treasures Rome holds in my next blog post, including a visit to a hidden, cobbled alley full of artisanal shops! In the meantime, keep spreading the pink tutu love. It's about embracing the bold, embracing the beautiful, embracing joy in all its magnificent forms.
Until next time, darlings!
Ciao bella,
