Ciao Bella! From the cobbled streets of Derbyshire, I've landed in the Eternal City, Rome! Can you believe it, darlings? My first ever visit to this majestic metropolis and my tutu is positively twirling with excitement. I've been saving up for this trip for months, juggling ballet performances and a sprinkle of cake baking on the side to fund my dream Roman adventure. And guess what? My fellow tututistas, it's officially on!
Today's all about embracing the pink-tinted hues of Rome. It’s like a real-life fairytale - picture it: terracotta rooftops shimmering in the sunshine, ancient marble sculptures bathed in the warm Italian light, and gelato so delicious, it practically melts in your mouth. Oh, and let's not forget the fabulously chic Romans strutting their stuff! From dapper gentlemen in tailored suits to elegant ladies rocking knee-high boots and flowing skirts, it's a style inspiration explosion.
A Ballet Blissful Journey:
Of course, any Pink Tutu journey wouldn’t be complete without a little ballet, would it? To get here, I opted for the ultimate stylish, eco-friendly way to travel: the train! It was a beautiful journey winding through the rolling green hills and past quaint little villages. I donned my favourite pink tulle and vintage sunglasses and sipped on sparkling grape juice (non-alcoholic, darling!). All eyes were on me (of course!), especially when I spontaneously leapt to my feet during a particularly thrilling moment in the rolling hills – my fellow passengers seemed delighted by my performance!
Fashion Frenzy:
Once in Rome, I felt compelled to treat myself to a few chic Italian treasures. The vibrant colours and textures were simply irresistible! From a playful printed silk scarf to a blush pink clutch bag, I can’t wait to share these new fashion finds with you in future posts. The shops here are brimming with fabulous inspiration! I spotted the cutest little vintage store nestled in the heart of Trastevere – a truly adorable neighbourhood full of winding cobbled streets, colourful flowerpots, and laughter-filled cafes.
Roman Delights:
We mustn’t forget the food! Oh, darling, this is food heaven. This evening, I indulged in the most delightful carbonara - perfectly creamy with the richest cheese, all topped off with fresh black pepper. It was a culinary dream. Then, there's the gelato! Forget your average boring ice cream – here, gelato is a genuine work of art. I sampled a pistachio flavour – just the perfect touch of green, sweet and nutty – delicious!
Art & Beauty:
Tomorrow, my darlings, we're off to explore the Colosseum – the very symbol of Ancient Rome! Can you believe that gladiators used to fight right there? I'm also super excited to visit the Vatican and witness the exquisite masterpieces of Renaissance artists like Michelangelo. I imagine his frescoes will be simply stunning.
P.S. Today's a very special day because it's World Pillow Day! What a fitting celebration for Rome! Can you imagine sinking into a big, fluffy pillow in a Roman piazza? Perhaps I’ll take a little nap while watching the world go by, a perfect spot of dolce far niente!
I’m already daydreaming about exploring the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, and even taking a scenic walk down the Spanish Steps! Oh, I could get lost in this city for weeks!
