Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! 🩰🇮🇹 (Blog Post #1369)
Ciao darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another instalment of my Pink Tutu adventures. This week, I'm in the eternal city of Rome, Italy, where I'm already totally smitten with the cobbled streets, ancient ruins, and… the food! Oh, the food! My dear followers, if you've never had Roman pasta, then you're seriously missing out. 🍝
As you know, I'm always travelling, and I'm completely addicted to hopping on a train, my tutu bag (yes, it exists! And it's pink!) securely tucked beside me, to some magical new location. My life is fuelled by a passion for ballet (both dancing and watching), beautiful things, and all things pink. And right now, Rome is definitely ticking all the boxes!
This week has been a whirlwind of discovery, from exploring the Colosseum and the Roman Forum, which transported me back to Ancient Roman times, to admiring the beauty of St Peter's Basilica and the Vatican. I’m such a fan of grand architecture, and these buildings are so epic! But let's get to the real reasons I'm so excited to be here.
Firstly, the fashion. Rome is definitely a fashion city. I’ve already spotted some amazing outfits on my walks around the city, from beautiful dresses and chic tailoring, to stylish streetwear and cool, vintage looks. I've indulged in some seriously delicious retail therapy (more on that later), and picked up some beautiful pieces for my collection.
Of course, the reason I love travel so much is because of the performance scene. And Rome is no exception. Last night I had a fantastic time seeing "The Barber of Seville" at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma - I even managed to nab some gorgeous seats in the stalls for an absolutely enchanting night of opera! 🎭 I can't imagine anything better than experiencing such an iconic Italian art form in such a magnificent building.
And the food, you guys! Honestly, I'm in heaven. My little pink tutu tummy has been filled with fresh pasta, pizza, delicious cheeses, mouthwatering gelato, and the most gorgeous cappuccinos I’ve ever had. I’ve even tried a classic tiramisu for dessert, which was heavenly.
A day at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma
This incredible building is so beautiful and atmospheric - I think I fell in love with its intricate details before I even heard the music! It's one of those spaces that just fills you with wonder and joy.
While I loved the opera performance, what made it even better was catching a glimpse of the ballet rehearsal before the show. You know I’m a total ballet nerd! The dancers were absolutely incredible, their grace and strength truly inspiring. I can't wait to experience a ballet performance here soon, perhaps during the next ballet season.
Tutu-licious fashion in Rome!
You can't talk about Rome without mentioning fashion! I've already made a beeline to a couple of incredible vintage shops and a gorgeous designer boutique. My mission in life is to make the world a more colourful and joyful place - one pink tutu at a time!
I can’t resist a splash of pink! In fact, my favourite colour definitely features in almost every outfit I wear! This week I've picked up a gorgeous pale pink floral dress to wear on a sunset stroll by the River Tiber, a pair of bright pink sandals, and a fantastic oversized pink bomber jacket for those cooler evenings.
I love how versatile pink can be – from classic feminine shades to bright, bold pops of colour, pink adds a touch of joy and femininity to any look. So if you're feeling a little bit shy to embrace pink, I urge you to take a leap of faith and give it a go. Who knows, you might just discover a whole new wardrobe wonderland waiting for you!
Taking the pink tutu to the Trevi Fountain
I couldn’t leave Rome without visiting the famous Trevi Fountain. It’s even more magical than I imagined! It’s enormous, with such intricate details. It feels so alive with stories from the past and the hopes of all the visitors that throw coins into the fountain.
And what’s a pink tutu blogger to do with a fountain this magnificent? Throw a coin in, of course! As it turned out, there was also a lovely couple from Derbyshire there - my home county! We had such a lovely chat about our lives, about how the pandemic changed our perspectives, and what it’s like to travel solo.
This city has this wonderful energy of shared experience and friendly, genuine connections. And I have a feeling that Rome might be just the place to add another adventure to my ever-growing list!
Rome is definitely calling me back, I just know it.
But for now, I've got to be off. My train back to Derbyshire leaves at midnight, and I want to grab a final gelato before heading back.
I’ll be posting a new blog post next week about my favourite shopping finds and perhaps a few more romantic (but tutu-friendly) corners of this magical city.
And don’t forget to follow me on social media. Remember: If you're looking to find me, I'm always the one twirling around in a pink tutu, ready to sprinkle some pink magic on the world.
Until next week, darlings, and stay glamorous!
