Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! #1370
Buongiorno, darlings! It’s your favourite pink-loving ballerina, Emma, writing to you live from the Eternal City! This week, I'm shimmying and twirling my way through the streets of Rome, and I’m so excited to share all my adventures with you.
The train journey down was pure bliss. I wore my lucky pink tutu and my favourite lavender cardigan for the journey, and I felt like I was travelling to a fairy tale. I was particularly mesmerised by the scenery in Tuscany - it’s as if the paintings of the Renaissance came alive before my eyes! I even saw a group of children playing in a field, mimicking the graceful poses of dancers. It really did make me feel like I’d been whisked away to another world.
Pink Tutus & The Trevi FountainMy first stop was the Trevi Fountain. Imagine my delight, when I discovered the incredible, sparkling, cascading, marble masterpiece that this fountain truly is! I couldn't resist the urge to throw a coin over my shoulder - for good luck, of course - whilst making a wish for even more dancing opportunities! Of course, I’d taken the opportunity to wear my latest pink tulle masterpiece - a whimsical creation featuring delicate lace, silver beading and a vibrant floral pattern. The sun was glistening off the pink fabric as I twirled with pure joy, creating a little ballerina-esque moment in the heart of the city.
My journey through the bustling, ancient streets continued, and I quickly realised the best way to get around Rome was by foot! It allowed me to appreciate the grand architecture and charming alleyways. Speaking of grand architecture, how can we ignore the magnificent Colosseum? A monumental triumph of Roman engineering and design. Seeing this remarkable structure in person was even more spectacular than the countless photos I’d seen before! The scale is incredible. Imagine the energy of those crowds in those days - what a spectacle it must have been! I twirled a little, just imagining all those centuries of laughter and celebration and I swear I could practically hear the echo of clapping!
Roman SplendourOf course, Rome is famous for its beautiful churches, each one seemingly more ornate than the last. It’s fascinating to see all those years of faith woven into the stone and marble. St. Peter’s Basilica, particularly, left me speechless with its intricate artistry and grand scale - the magnificent, gilded ceiling really left me feeling awestruck! Of course, I couldn’t resist taking some snaps, to share with all of you. You’ll find the shots up on my Instagram soon - check out my #PinkTutuRome stories!
One thing I really love about Italy, is their beautiful cuisine! And their love for delicious pastries, creamy gelato, and perfectly-made cappuccinos is second to none! After indulging in some delightful local treats (topped off with a perfectly pink strawberry gelato, of course), I took a stroll through the Campo de’ Fiori, which was alive with vibrant life. Local artisans selling leather goods, vibrant fruits, and colorful flowers all contribute to the incredible, almost chaotic atmosphere, it was truly unforgettable. It was all so delightful, so colourful - it reminded me of the world of theatre.
Speaking of theatre, that brings me to the best part of my Rome trip! Tonight I’m seeing a ballet performance at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. It’s "La Traviata" - an operatic classic, and a personal favourite of mine! There’s something about seeing the grace of ballet dance, set against the grandeur of an Italian opera house, that just fills my heart with so much joy. My tutu is pressed and preened, ready for the ultimate ballet experience.
Oh, I must tell you, I’ve been doing some serious shopping! Finding pink tulle for my own ballet designs in this city has been incredible. Imagine all those years of craftsmanship going into fabric, and fashion, in a city steeped in such rich history and beauty. It’s inspiring! So expect to see many a beautiful new Pink Tutu creation very soon, inspired by my adventures in the Eternal City. Stay tuned for those snaps and details next week, you know I love sharing my creativity with all of you.
