Pink Tutu Rome: Post 1374 - La Dolce Vita in a Tutu!
Ciao, darlings! It's Wednesday, and that means it's time for a new post from your favourite pink tutu-clad blogger! I'm currently writing this from a charming cafe nestled in the heart of Rome, surrounded by the intoxicating aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the delightful chatter of locals.
As you may have gathered from my Instagram stories, I've taken a rather glamorous leap across Europe, landing myself smack bang in the Eternal City for a week of culture, croissants, and copious amounts of pink, naturally. I have a thing for Europe, specifically the French countryside, but my travels always bring me back to my roots - Derbyshire - for that classic English country girl life. However, my trip this week is all about Italy. After all, how can you not fall for a country with such history, exquisite food, and fabulous fashion? And that's not to mention the absolutely divine Italian ballet scene, a topic I'll be diving into later.
But first, let's talk about getting here! I took a delightful train ride from my previous Parisian adventures – and let's be honest, a train journey is a fab opportunity to slip into a chic little travelling ensemble. It's all about comfort and elegance! Naturally, I sported my signature pink tutu, complete with a flowing, off-white blouse and a charming beret adorned with a jaunty feather. Let’s just say, my arrival in Rome was quite the spectacle. It’s important to add that there’s nothing I enjoy more than a good train ride. So romantic and calming. It’s like taking a trip back in time and seeing all the towns you travel through with a vintage touch, like something from a beautiful period movie. I get so many glances as I stroll through the stations, but they just go hand in hand with being me.
Upon reaching my fabulous Roman apartment, with its tiny balcony overlooking the Pantheon, I simply had to have a celebratory outfit change! This time, I slipped into a silky pink number with a full-length tulle skirt (of course) and a matching statement hat. I paired it with some glittering heels and a dazzling array of gold necklaces. After all, it's never too early for a touch of Italian glam!
Now, if you follow my blog regularly, you know how much I adore indulging in local culinary experiences. And Rome, my dears, has been a culinary paradise! I've already sampled the most divine carbonara, with its rich, creamy sauce and perfectly cooked pasta – it truly melted in my mouth! But it wasn’t all carbonara! I sampled pizzas that made me shout from the rooftops for joy, enjoyed gelato on a stroll through the ancient ruins (and trust me, it's absolutely glorious), and even found the cutest little pastry shop near the Spanish Steps. It's amazing how a simple pastry can brighten your day. And don’t worry, you can expect a separate post later this week dedicated solely to the fabulous Roman cuisine!
And then there's the shopping! Honestly, I have to say that I might be losing all willpower against the Italian allure of all things fabulous! Forget the Eiffel Tower for the time being - Rome is my new Mecca. So far, I've been making a bee-line for every vintage store I can find (Rome is such a hotbed for gorgeous vintage items), and I’m seriously tempted by an Italian silk scarf with floral detailing (all those bold prints are calling out my name!), and I found an adorable pair of lavender-hued suede sandals, perfectly paired with my dusty pink midi skirt. I can already see the photoshoots! I just need a whole suitcase dedicated to new clothes and fashion!
Oh, and don't forget the historical wonders! You know I love a bit of history, and Rome has it in spades. So far, I’ve been awestruck by the Colosseum, admired the beauty of the Trevi Fountain (I did make a wish, but you’ll have to wait to see if it came true!), wandered the Forum, marvelled at the Pantheon, and stumbled upon some absolutely exquisite art within the Vatican Museums (don’t even get me started on the Sistine Chapel – that was an incredible experience. You really can't appreciate art like that without being physically there!). Honestly, you could spend weeks here and still have only scratched the surface. Every corner is a new adventure, each landmark a breathtaking masterpiece. Of course, I made sure my outfit perfectly complimented these grand buildings – my new favourite combo is a deep blush pink skirt and a crisp white blouse. The perfect combination for a princess on holiday!
But wait! Did I mention my love for the ballet?! Oh my goodness, my darlings, I cannot stress this enough – Italian ballet is absolutely phenomenal! The movements, the artistry, the emotion – it’s all simply breathtaking. I’m lucky to be here while the season is in full swing, and I have seen some fantastic shows, so there'll definitely be an entire blog post devoted to all things ballet. Think dazzling costumes, elegant moves, and enough grace to fill the entire Colosseum – even the gladiators couldn't resist taking in the spectacle! I even managed to snag a couple of tickets to a prestigious ballet class (a dream come true!), so you can bet your tutu on some photos of my ballet class adventure. Just imagining myself spinning on the pointe in a beautifully lit studio is sending me into a complete spin!
I have so much to say and show you, so stay tuned for the next week's blog post, where I’ll go into all the exciting experiences of my trip and showcase some stunning outfits. This journey of a lifetime is about to take a very magical turn!
Don’t forget to follow me on Instagram to keep up with all the pink adventures and find more information on this journey to the Eternal City. Stay fabulous, darling!
