Pink Tutu Rome - Wednesday 17th November 2021 - Post #1380
Ciao bellas! Emma here, back from a whirlwind trip to Rome with a tutu full of inspiration. I must confess, this city stole a little piece of my heart - it's bursting with history, art, fashion, and the kind of joie de vivre that can only be found in Italy. It was all just a little bit magical!
Remember how I said I'd be making Rome my home for a week? Well, let's just say it went down a storm, in the best way possible! And for those of you just joining me, Pink Tutu Rome is a special new adventure. I'm dedicating a whole week to exploring the city through the lens of pink tutus, of course! Every Wednesday, I'll be bringing you a new Roman adventure filled with fashion, food, art and everything pink and wonderful.
How Did I Get Here? The Glamour of the Rail
You already know I'm a massive fan of travelling by train, don't you? It's all about the views, the leisurely pace, and the time to catch up on my favourite ballet magazines (and maybe do a little pink tutu practice!). So, after my last performance in Derby, I boarded a Eurostar with my tutu bag, and I was off to the land of sunshine, history, and… oh yes, pizza!
My Pink Tutu Home Away from Home
The first thing that struck me was the sheer charm of my little hotel. Nestled right in the heart of Trastevere, it felt like a secret sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle. Picture this: terracotta walls, bougainvillea cascading down the courtyard, and, get this, a tiny terrace overlooking the Tiber River - perfection! Of course, I packed my signature pink tutu and ballet shoes for an impromptu practice on that terrace! Just me and the gentle sound of the river – it was such a lovely way to start my Italian adventure.
Fashion Inspiration on the Roman Streets
Speaking of Italian fashion, you wouldn’t believe the chic style I’ve been spotting around Rome. Think bold colours, stunning fabrics, and an effortlessly elegant attitude. It’s like walking through a magazine come to life! It really is no surprise that I felt a wave of inspiration hit me, just looking at the way the Roman ladies wear their tutus (metaphorically speaking, of course). This city is like a dream come true for someone like me who just loves fashion, so keep a close eye on my social media because you won’t want to miss my #PinkTutuRome style finds!
The Coliseum: A Majestic Spectacle
It wouldn't be a trip to Rome without visiting the iconic Coliseum, right? Honestly, this place is even more awe-inspiring in real life. The sheer size and scale are truly remarkable! Standing inside its shadow, you feel transported back to the days of gladiatorial combats and emperors. It felt a little bit like my very own "ballet show" backstage with thousands of years of history surrounding me. Now that would be a costume change fit for a queen!
Art & Aperitivo – The Best of Italian Evening
As the sun started to set, I decided to indulge in a little art and a spot of aperitivo. Now, aperitivo is this delicious ritual of having a little pre-dinner snack with drinks and nibbles - what’s not to love?! The museum I chose was the Borghese Gallery – truly one of the most beautiful art galleries in Rome. They have masterpieces by the likes of Bernini and Caravaggio, and the gardens are stunningly picturesque too.
A Culinary Delight: Food That Makes You Feel Happy!
And let’s not forget the food! From creamy gelato to freshly baked bread and the most amazing pizzas I've ever had, I feel like I've truly discovered what Italian food is all about. And let me tell you, there's something about the simple flavours and the quality of ingredients that really does make you feel good! Each meal was a pure joy. You'll definitely be seeing some of my favourite foodie spots on my Instagram this week, so keep an eye out.
The Perfect Day to End my Roman Adventure
As I head home, I feel that unique mixture of happiness and a little bit of melancholy - you know, the kind you feel after a holiday that is far too short! But the most incredible part is how this trip made me fall in love with Rome and even more in love with dancing, even when there isn't a tutu in sight. You see, sometimes even without my ballet shoes, I feel like a ballerina! And, dare I say, even a pink tutu can't hold a candle to this kind of happy magic.
So, my darling pink tutu followers, that's all from Rome for now. I'll be back next Wednesday, sharing even more tales of my travels and perhaps some even more fantastic fashion finds! Stay tuned!
Sending you all the biggest of hugs from your favourite ballerina,
Emma xxx
