#PinkTutuRome: Ciao Bella! Exploring the Eternal City in a Pink Tutu (Post #1381)

Ciao bella! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another #PinkTutuRome post! I'm writing to you from a sun-drenched cafe in Rome, a delicious cappuccino warming my hands, and a decadent slice of tiramisu already halfway gone. The Italian sun is beaming down, and I feel positively radiant, even more so in my latest pink tulle number. You see, Rome truly does bring out the most flamboyant side of me, and I've been embracing the beautiful chaos of this historical metropolis with a tutu in every shade of pink imaginable.

This week's #PinkTutuRome adventure has been jam-packed with excitement. I've explored ancient ruins, wandered through bustling markets, and fallen head over heels for the charm of this truly enchanting city. But before we delve into the delights, a little bit about my journey. I took a sleeper train from Paris - I absolutely love the romanticism of travelling by train! Itā€™s like stepping into a world from a classic film. The carriage was beautifully adorned with velvet seats, intricate carvings, and an old-world elegance that makes the whole trip feel like an adventure.

I was fortunate enough to get a spot in a quiet cabin, so I was able to slip into my pink ballerina shoes, pop on some music, and spend a delightful evening stretching, reading, and listening to the gentle rhythm of the wheels rolling along the tracks. You really canā€™t beat it for relaxing and letting the landscape fly past as you travel to the next amazing location.

Romeā€™s Majestic Embrace

So, Rome, Rome, Rome. Where do I even begin? You truly feel like you are stepping into the pages of a history book. As I meandered down cobblestone streets, past ornate fountains and magnificent buildings, I felt a sense of history clinging to me like a phantom's embrace. There's just something so undeniably magical about Rome. It's a place that begs to be explored, a place that whispers secrets through ancient stones.

First stop - the Colosseum. A massive structure that still holds so much awe, wonder, and mystery. As I stood beneath its imposing archway, the vastness of the arena humbled me. To think that gladiators once fought in this very place, cheered on by thousands, sent shivers down my spine. It truly makes you appreciate the past and how things have evolved.

Afterward, I spent the afternoon meandering through the captivating Pantheon. The structureā€™s iconic dome was a vision in its simple elegance, and the light streaming through the oculus cast the most amazing shadows throughout the interior. As I stood beneath the majestic dome, contemplating the vastness of space, it felt like the entire city was echoing with history.

But Rome is far more than just ancient ruins! There is an artistic pulse that flows through every street, every cafƩ, every park.

Finding Fashion Flair

I, of course, couldn't resist indulging my passion for fashion! Rome is a paradise for shopaholics. Each neighbourhood seems to have its own distinct vibe and unique boutiques showcasing an array of treasures - vintage fashion finds, chic leather goods, and handcrafted jewellery. I spent hours in Campo de' Fiori, my heart pounding with the excitement of discovering one-of-a-kind vintage pieces that brought back the era of classic Italian glamour.

My most memorable find was a vintage sequinned top that practically sang ā€œflamingo pinkā€ to me! You know I had to snag it ā€“ itā€™s just so fabulous and absolutely screaming Rome!

Ballet in the Eternal City

What would a #PinkTutuRome post be without some mention of ballet? As you might know, ballet is my heart and soul, and exploring the ballet scene in Rome was a dream come true. This week, I took in a beautiful performance by the Ballet di Roma, and their passion and talent absolutely stole my breath away. The costumes were breathtaking, and the dancers moved with a graceful elegance that left me speechless.

Rome truly feels like a city where ballet flourishes! From beautiful baroque theatres with ornate ceilings to the more modern spaces with innovative choreography - it is certainly a city that embraces and elevates ballet to a different level.

And of courseā€¦ the food!

I can't mention Italy without a culinary adventure. I devoured mouthwatering pasta, the best pizza Iā€™ve ever tasted (sorry Derbyshire!), the most delicious tiramisu, and so much more. Letā€™s not forget the ice cream ā€“ an absolute must-try! The gelato here is next-level, it's like biting into a dream! The flavours are unbelievably inventive ā€“ can I suggest the pistachio and the ricotta? Youā€™re in for a treat!

Pink Tutus Everywhere

My goal, as you know, is to spread the love of pink tutus worldwide! Itā€™s so rewarding to see a city embrace a whimsical idea, especially in a place with such history and tradition. While a tutu might not be the first thing you think of when you imagine the city of Rome, it's become a surprising delight. Iā€™ve found the most amazing shops and local craftswomen whoā€™ve designed bespoke tutus inspired by Roman history and art!

This week, I saw a beautiful street artist who incorporated the tutu into her vibrant street art, and the sight made my heart soar! I even saw a few local Roman women who bravely took to the streets wearing vibrant pink tutus, and they looked so confident and chic, totally embracing their individual styles! I have a feeling the tutu movement is going to flourish in Rome - who knew?

Ciao for nowā€¦

Until next Wednesday, my dearest readers, when Iā€™ll be back with more tales of #PinkTutuRome! Keep dancing and dreaming, and I canā€™t wait to share my next weekā€™s adventure in the city of wonders. Until then, remember: be brave, embrace the beautiful chaos, and donā€™t forget your pink tutu!

Xx, Emma
