Pink Tutu Rome: #1382 - Dancing into the Eternal City 🩰🇮🇹
Ciao bellas! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu adventure, this time from the heart of Rome, Italy!
I'm officially declaring this week's blog post as the most glamorous one yet (that's saying something considering my usual sartorial choices!). The moment I stepped off the train and into the heart of the Eternal City, I was enveloped by the vibrancy, history, and pure, delicious drama of it all. It’s like stepping back in time, except everyone’s dressed to the nines and the streets are buzzing with an infectious energy that’s impossible not to get caught up in.
Now, let’s talk about the journey. My journey here, from the quaint hills of Derbyshire, involved a train ride that was as scenic as it was comfy. There’s something utterly magical about traversing vast landscapes by train, a kind of slow and steady immersion that lets you really appreciate the changing scenery. Plus, it gave me the perfect excuse to slip on my favourite floral midi dress and layer up with a chunky knit cardigan. Let’s just say, my fellow train travellers got quite the show as I gracefully – ahem, perhaps a tad haphazardly – manoeuvred my pink tulle suitcase through the carriage. (And yes, it’s definitely pink – even the wheels!)
Speaking of pink, it’s pretty hard to escape in Rome! Think pastel-coloured buildings, beautiful blooms overflowing in window boxes, and stunning views of the Tiber bathed in the warm glow of the setting sun. It’s like someone took my Pinterest mood board and made it into a living, breathing city.
And now, a little taste of what's on my agenda this week in the glorious capital of Italy:
Tuesday: First up, I tackled the Colosseum! Honestly, it's just as breathtaking in person as in all the pictures, a colossal piece of history that still manages to take your breath away. You can feel the power of those ancient gladiatorial games right in your core. My little pink tutu made quite a statement amidst the ancient grandeur, let me tell you!
Wednesday: This afternoon is all about Rome's beautiful parks. I’m picturing leisurely strolls beneath towering trees, a delicious picnic overlooking the city, and perhaps even a spontaneous ballet practice on the grass. I hear there’s even a park devoted to contemporary art called “Maxxi”! It’s bound to be as quirky and creative as my ballet costumes.
Thursday: Tomorrow, it's the ballet! A grand evening at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma to see a spectacular production of “Giselle.” My heart is already beating to the rhythm of the music just thinking about it. I can't wait to be swept away by the elegance, passion, and captivating stories that unfold onstage. After all, it’s never just about the dance; it's about the stories we tell with our bodies and the way those stories resonate with our souls.
Friday: Now, the true joy of any city trip: shopping! Rome is practically overflowing with high-street fashion finds, vintage treasures, and unique handcrafted jewellery that practically begs to be brought home. Think intricate gold necklaces, hand-painted ceramics, and maybe even a few pairs of leather shoes with a bit of that Roman flair.
Saturday: I’m diving into the history of ancient Rome! It wouldn’t be a trip to the Eternal City without soaking up the history, and I plan to explore the Pantheon, the Roman Forum, and all the awe-inspiring sights of the ancient city. Let’s just say, I’ll definitely need a decent pair of comfortable, yet chic, flats for all this sightseeing.
Sunday: The final day! Of course, no trip to Italy is complete without an extravagant Italian meal, so it's off to one of the most authentic restaurants I can find for a traditional Italian feast. You know it’s all about the atmosphere! Maybe I’ll even be inspired by a beautiful Italian woman and whip out a few ballet poses to really add a touch of pizzazz to my meal. (But only if the locals seem open to it, of course!) I always get inspired by people of all walks of life - after all, what’s fashion if it can’t make us feel our best, whatever the style or location!
It’s so easy to fall in love with the rhythm of Roman life: the bustling markets, the delicious aromas from the local trattorias, the stunning art and history that whispers in every cobblestone.

Lots of love,
Emma
