Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! (Post #1383)

Wednesday, 8th December 2021

Hello, darlings! Emma here, bringing you a fresh dose of pink-tastic adventures straight from the heart of Rome. I'm so excited to be sharing my Roman escapade with you! As you know, I’m absolutely besotted with exploring new cities and discovering their unique beauty, and Rome, oh my Rome, you've stolen my heart!

I love train travel – the gentle sway, the breathtaking scenery whizzing past the window, the romantic charm of chugging along on the iron rails… and, let’s not forget the quintessential travel companion – a fabulously pink, swirling, multi-layered tulle tutu! 🩰 This time, I opted for my "Santorini Sunrise" tutu. The vibrant fuchsia shades matched the colourful cityscapes perfectly!

Landing in Rome, I felt an instant energy buzzing through the air, a blend of history, artistry and buzzing vibrancy. My heart leaped with excitement. Rome is, of course, a mecca for history buffs, with ancient ruins like the Colosseum and the Roman Forum beckoning you back to a glorious past. I knew I had to step into the ancient shoes of the Romans and witness this history for myself!

I started my Roman adventure at the Colosseum. I couldn’t believe its sheer size – the majestic arches and tiered seats, I simply marvelled at the vastness of it. As I wandered around its grounds, my imagination raced, envisioning gladiatorial contests and roars of the Roman crowd. The air still vibrated with their passion, centuries later! I could practically see the shimmering gold, blue and purple togas!

That afternoon, I explored the Forum, another ancient marvel, feeling the spirit of the mighty Roman Empire underfoot. As I roamed amongst the ruins, I was struck by a wave of awe and respect for the grand city and the people who had once called it home. The intricate mosaics, the graceful columns and the remnants of temples painted a vivid picture of their once-vibrant society. It was as though the Romans had left their story etched onto the very fabric of the city, for us to marvel at.

One of the things I love most about exploring new places is discovering their hidden gems, those little-known places that hold a special charm. Today, I found my Roman secret tucked away on a narrow side street in the charming Trastevere district.

My wanderings led me to “L'Angolo di Alice” - a tiny, tucked-away trattoria oozing charm and the aromas of fresh Italian delights. My tummy was grumbling by then so, I couldn't resist indulging in their delectable homemade pasta, perfectly al dente and brimming with flavours that would have sent the Roman gods into raptures.

After lunch, my Roman journey led me to a haven of art and beauty – the Galleria Borghese. Home to stunning masterpieces by Bernini and Caravaggio, this museum is a treasure trove for art enthusiasts. It's actually housed in a breathtaking 17th-century villa that itself is a work of art! Imagine lush gardens, sculpted fountains and grand rooms brimming with Italian artistry – absolutely breathtaking.

That evening, Rome was bathed in the golden hues of a Roman sunset, painting the city in a romantic light. A gentle breeze whispered through the ancient trees as I enjoyed a cup of steaming hot cappuccino in a tiny cafe, enjoying the sweet, soothing scent of freshly roasted coffee beans, and a slice of tiramisu as my final treat of the day. This was Italian dolce vita at its finest, a true taste of "la dolce vita"!

My evening was a flurry of emotions as I stepped into the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, a stunning neoclassical theatre adorned with intricate stucco work. The grand theatre was ready to receive its guests. Dressed in my beautiful 'Rose Quartz Rhapsody' tutu, I made my way into the opera house feeling like a fairytale princess entering a grand ballroom. Tonight's performance was "The Marriage of Figaro" - an opera I've long been wanting to see. And what an evening! The enchanting voices soared over the hushed audience, transporting them to a world of romance, humour and intrigue. It was like stepping into a page from an Italian storybook, full of passion and drama.

Later that night, strolling under a canopy of stars in Rome, I thought about the Roman saying – “Roma non fu fatta in un giorno” (Rome wasn't built in a day), it's true. It’s an ageless city with so much beauty and magic. It's filled with countless layers of stories waiting to be discovered, secrets hidden around every corner, and a certain je ne sais quoi that keeps you wanting more.

I’ve discovered that Rome is much more than ancient ruins and delicious food. It’s also an electrifying mix of history, art, culture, and a charming touch of dolce vita – a true treat for the soul. I can't wait to delve deeper into its magical labyrinth of alleyways, discover new treasures and soak in its unparalleled charm.

That's all from Rome today, but there's much more to come. Join me again next Wednesday, as I share more pink-tastic adventures and uncover the hidden jewels of this captivating city. Until then, may your days be filled with laughter, light and, of course, a sprinkle of pink! Ciao for now, darlings!

Remember, a pink tutu is always a great addition to any adventure! 🩰💖

With love and sparkles, Emma x
