Pink Tutu Rome: Post #1384 – Ciao Bella! 🇮🇹

Wednesday, December 15th, 2021

Ciao, darlings! Emma here, ready to transport you to the magical, delicious and fashionably-fabulous world of Pink Tutu Rome! 🩰 I'm officially on Roman soil, and let me tell you, my heart is doing pirouettes! I've been absolutely dreaming of visiting this incredible city, the eternal city, the city of gladiators and emperors, the city of art and architecture, the city of exquisite pasta and gelati! And with my pink tutu, it’s been even more wonderful.

This week's blog, post number 1384, takes you on a whirl through the cobbled streets and beautiful squares of the city. It's a whirlwind of history, culture, food, fashion and of course, plenty of twirling in my beloved pink tutus! 😉 Rome is definitely embracing the pink tutu vibe – I can’t imagine anything more fabulous!

Arriving in Rome:

I decided to embrace the romance of the Italian journey and travel here by train. A whistle and a click-clack of the wheels later, and I’m already falling in love with Italy. My journey began from my hometown of Derbyshire, England. After all, you can't truly arrive in Rome without feeling that sense of arrival and adventure that comes with train travel, don’t you think? I have to say the train was packed full of people returning for Christmas. We all ended up sharing some fantastic Italian Prosecco. It was the perfect introduction to the warm, inviting energy of Italian life.

Stepping Into My Italian Dream:

As I stepped out of Termini Station in Rome, I knew I was stepping into my very own Italian fairytale. The sunshine was warm on my face, the air was filled with a delightful aroma of fresh bread and coffee, and I couldn't help but gasp at the beauty of the Colosseum, the mighty symbol of this historical powerhouse. But, as soon as I started looking at my surroundings, it became clear: there was fashion everywhere. From chic ladies with impeccable outfits and bold statement jewellery to gentlemen in beautifully-tailored suits - It's clear the Romans are style masters! And of course, I’m here to soak up all that sartorial inspiration.

My Rome Must-Do List:

Rome has so much to offer, I'm barely scratching the surface! My trip, which is part of a three month world tour with my ballet performances, is full of cultural delights:

  • The Colosseum: It was mind-blowingly immense, and the sheer power of history that resonates from within its walls sent shivers down my spine! Imagine the gladiators battling, the emperors waving from their box. The Colosseum made me feel truly connected to Rome’s ancient past.

  • The Roman Forum and Palatine Hill: These iconic sights allowed me to picture life in Ancient Rome in all its glorious detail. From the imposing ruins of temples to the exquisite architecture, it was a magical step back in time. I can't wait to find more treasures tucked away in its hidden corners.

  • Trevi Fountain: It was as breathtaking as they say it is! I just had to make a wish, and maybe take a few hundred photos, after all it’s a must-do for any visitor to Rome!

  • The Vatican City: It was another world – full of intricate architecture, religious devotion and artistic brilliance. I lost myself in the magnificence of St. Peter's Basilica, where I was truly overwhelmed by its beauty and its grandeur. It felt like a fairytale – and I definitely had a little twirl in my tutu!

Pink Tutu Roman Style:

Every day in Rome has been a delightful fashion experience, my dear readers. The shops here are a wonderland of exquisite design and craftsmanship! From the elegant boutiques tucked away in the back streets to the renowned high street fashion houses – I’ve been busy with my shopping, researching new looks, and planning my future wardrobe for my tour of America in a few months time. The pink tutu was definitely the perfect choice for sightseeing! And the city is full of gorgeous little coffee shops where I can perch and blog between trips.

Rome’s Fashion Charm:

The style I’ve found in Rome is utterly sophisticated. The locals seem to take great pride in putting their best fashion foot forward, especially for events. There’s an easy chic to their dress. Their fashion is confident, elegant and just effortlessly stylish.

There’s also the incredible range of fashion boutiques on the Via Condotti. From Fendi and Gucci, the luxury giants of Italian fashion, to smaller, independent labels showcasing bold Italian craftsmanship. Every single storefront here was a dazzling celebration of style!

And the food... where to start? There’s the incredible pastas, the delectable gelatos, the fresh pastries... my heart is simply full of food joy! I find myself making excuses to sample the most delicious food possible, especially now I am training for all my performances! It’s been a bit of a challenge, my darlings!

Pink Tutu Performances and Passions:

My trip to Rome, my dears, was a blur of twirling, sightseeing and deliciousness. I’m on a whirlwind tour, giving performances and workshops across Italy, including in Bologna and Milan. I’ve always believed that ballet is the most exquisite form of art and one that really pushes our boundaries – whether it’s to showcase beauty, express a feeling, tell a story, or transport an audience into a dreamlike world.

My audiences have been absolutely amazing here. Each and every single performance is truly magical – they all share the same love of ballet, but also, and perhaps most importantly, a sense of adventure and a desire to be swept up into the wonder of this incredible form.

I’m passionate about helping everyone see ballet, and to really appreciate the magic that ballet brings. That’s why I always choose to give performances where everyone is welcome. There’s always something to be inspired by. In Rome, it’s definitely the city’s style and love of the arts that keeps the flame burning.

My next stop, my dears, is a beautiful town in the Italian mountains. It’s called Cortina d’Ampezzo – how perfectly divine does that sound? Stay tuned next Wednesday – because I’m going to be talking all about fashion in the mountains, the perfect mountain outfit for me (it’s not the usual, but oh so amazing!). Don’t miss it, darlings!

Stay fab,

Emma. 💕 🩰
