Pink Tutu Rome: Post #1387 – Exploring the Eternal City in a Twirl!
Ciao Bella! It's Emma here, your Pink Tutu travel buddy, reporting live from the enchanting city of Rome! Today's blog post marks the start of my Italian adventure – an adventure I'm incredibly excited to share with you, my dearest tutu-loving friends.
This week's train journey from Derbyshire was a delight. I love travelling by train! It allows for some serious people-watching and of course, my signature pink tutu fits right in, whether I'm strolling through the station or enjoying a cheeky prosecco (or three) in the buffet carriage. Speaking of pink tutus – I spotted a group of young Italian girls wearing them outside a ballet school in Verona. They giggled and twirled, looking like little pink clouds. Honestly, my heart soared! My mission to inspire everyone to wear a pink tutu is going strong, even across continents!
And speaking of inspiration – Rome is bursting with it. Stepping into this ancient city feels like entering a living, breathing art museum. Imagine: cobbled streets, imposing marble statues, awe-inspiring churches, and delicious gelato shops (with an endless choice of colours, of course!). My Italian odyssey officially starts today, and I can already tell that this trip will be packed with amazing memories, beautiful photos, and some serious wardrobe upgrades (Rome, my love, will surely be a shopping haven for a fashion-loving ballerina!).
But first, coffee.
Espresso, art, and pink tutus:
My first morning in Rome started with a hearty dose of Italian caffeine at a charming cafe, its walls adorned with paintings that rivaled any gallery I've ever seen. As I savoured my espresso (don't worry, there was an entire teapot of pink tea later on, because a girl needs her girly treats!), I planned the day's exploration. I've been dreaming of seeing the Colosseum for as long as I can remember, and my heart nearly jumped out of my chest when I finally saw it in all its glory. The grandeur of this ancient amphitheater is truly breathtaking! I imagine all the thrilling gladiatorial contests that took place there, and I swear, I felt a twinge of excitement for a fierce battle of my own. This city has a powerful energy that pulses through every cobblestone and corner.
After snapping countless photos of myself in a variety of picturesque locations, with the Colosseum serving as the most magnificent backdrop, we strolled to Piazza Navona. This enchanting square was packed with artists selling their beautiful work – paintings, sculptures, street performers... it was a kaleidoscope of artistry and creativity. Even I felt inspired, although my artistic expression generally comes out in the form of twirling pirouettes rather than painting or sculpture.
Dancing in the Eternal City:
No trip to Rome would be complete without an enchanting ballet experience. Tonight, I'm going to see "Romeo and Juliet" at the Teatro dell'Opera. It's been ages since I enjoyed a ballet performance and the passion and artistry of the Italian dancers never fail to amaze me. To top it off, I found a beautiful new pink tutu with gold embellishments that's begging to be worn for this grand occasion. Maybe even a pair of sparkly pink shoes to complete the look? I can't wait to report back on my ballet experience – hopefully, with some stunning photos, because what’s a trip to Italy without an Insta-worthy pink tutu outfit, right?
But before the show, it's time to enjoy a delicious dinner, an absolute feast of Italian delicacies! Pasta, pizza, wine - I can't wait! And, of course, my beloved gelato for dessert. Oh, Rome, you're spoiling me rotten!
Stay tuned for more adventures from my Roman escapade – it’s sure to be full of colourful moments, twirling adventures, and hopefully a few impromptu pink tutu photo opportunities! See you next week, my dear tutu-loving friends!
Till next time,
Emma, Your Pink Tutu Ambassador
