Pink Tutu Rome: #1415 - A Whirlwind of Colosseum, Couture and Cappuccino! 🩰🇮🇹

Ciao, darlings! Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad adventurer, back with another Wednesday instalment from the glorious city of Rome.

This week has been a complete whirlwind of historical wonders, fashion finds, and fabulous food - all seasoned with a generous helping of pink, of course! And, as always, I’m living my dream of spreading the joy of the pink tutu around the world – one Italian adventure at a time!

Catching a Train and a Performance:

I arrived in Rome via the majestic Italian train network, and oh, my dears, the journey was pure romance. It felt like a scene out of a Fellini film, with rolling hills, sun-drenched vineyards, and picturesque villages whizzing by. I even got a sneaky peek at the majestic Duomo in Florence - so beautiful! The thrill of travelling by train is something special - there's something so liberating about watching the world pass you by, whilst creating my own adventures.

Rome greeted me with open arms, the warmth of the sun, and a symphony of sound. I was immediately mesmerised by the bustling energy and charming chaos of the streets - so very Italian! Of course, I had to check in to my stunningly pink hotel – it was a true fashionista’s dream come true! Pink floral wallpaper, silk bedcovers and even pink teacups, just for me. Oh, the glamour!

But first things first! I knew this week in Rome couldn’t be complete without a bit of theatrical inspiration. As luck would have it, there was a captivating ballet performance by the Rome Opera Ballet at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. Oh, the grace! The artistry! The pure passion they poured into each dance! I felt truly inspired by the raw talent, and it fuelled my creative fire even more.

Exploring the Colosseum: A Moment in Time:

After my delightful ballet treat, it was time to delve into the heart of Rome. And what better place to begin than the iconic Colosseum? Standing before this magnificent architectural marvel was like stepping back in time. I felt a shiver run down my spine as I imagined the gladiators battling, the cheers of the crowds, and the sheer grandeur of ancient Rome. The sheer size of the Colosseum just blows your mind, it is simply astonishing!

But let’s be real, fashion is never far from my mind, even when amidst such history. My hot pink tutu felt particularly vibrant against the worn stone of the arena, adding a touch of whimsy to this incredible site. It’s all about embracing the unexpected – after all, pink is a universal language, understood by everyone.

Discovering Deliciousness and Roman Glamour:

The day just couldn’t be complete without savouring the culinary delights of Rome. Of course, I couldn’t resist indulging in the ultimate Italian treat – a delicious cappuccinos with creamy, rich espresso foam, topped with delicate patterns, like works of art! The café life in Rome is truly captivating - so chic and social! And of course, every single one of these beautiful places had a special allure, and with a perfect combination of historical architecture and the energy of a thousand conversations, made me fall even deeper into the magic of Rome!

But as any fashion aficionado knows, every trip to Italy must be marked by a fabulous shopping spree! And trust me, dear readers, Rome did not disappoint! I lost myself in the elegant shops of Via Condotti, where high fashion and Italian charm mingled effortlessly. Finding a luxurious silk scarf with a bold floral pattern was a triumph, and, naturally, a pink and rose gold broach made a triumphant entry into my collection! I love discovering gorgeous fabrics and luxurious craftsmanship that screams Italy.

Treasures and a Toast:

One of my favourite moments of this whirlwind week was exploring the quaint and charming Mercato Campo dei Fiori. This bustling marketplace is a treasure trove of colours, textures, and flavours. From vibrant spices and fragrant cheeses to intricately woven textiles and handcrafted ceramics, there's something for every kind of explorer here. It's like a slice of authentic Italian life, bustling with locals going about their daily lives.

As dusk descended upon the city, I took a leisurely stroll along the River Tiber, sipping a chilled glass of Prosecco and marveling at the magical views of St. Peter's Basilica. As the city twinkled beneath a canopy of stars, it felt like the perfect ending to a magical day.

And speaking of magical, dear readers, if you haven’t joined the Pink Tutu movement yet, you’re seriously missing out! The pink tutu is about finding your inner joy and spreading that positive energy out into the world. I know many of you have your reservations – some fear they’ll look silly, others think they are too old – but my advice? Don’t let fear hold you back. There is magic in a pink tutu.

Until next week, darlings,

Yours in pink,

Emma www.pink-tutu.com
