This week, the #PinkTutuRome adventure has been all about embracing the vibrant heart of the Eternal City. This week I've taken a little break from ballet performances to explore Rome with the magic of pink tulle flowing behind me. After all, who says a pink tutu doesn't belong amongst the ancient ruins and stunning fountains?
From Derbyshire to Rome, by Train of Course!
Leaving Derbyshire, I felt the familiar excitement bubble inside me. Travelling by train is always an adventure. There's something so magical about watching the scenery change, the towns blur into each other, and then BAM, you're in a new place! And, you can’t beat the chance to admire your reflection in the carriage window – all those twirls and a perfectly pink tutu always bring a smile.
Rome, You’re Beautiful!
Stepping out of Termini station, the air crackled with the excitement of a thousand stories waiting to be discovered. The smell of fresh bread, the warmth of the sun on my face, the chattering crowds - Rome was already casting its spell. I immediately spotted a cafe brimming with pink roses on the tables and knew I had found my perfect morning haven. A delicious cappuccino and a scone later, I felt ready to tackle Rome’s ancient heart.
The Colosseum in All its Glory
It's an epic experience to stand amongst those ancient ruins! Imagine all the stories, the gladiators, the emperors! I stood in awe of the size and grandeur of it all. To think that something this remarkable has stood the test of time, is truly inspiring!
Fountain Fantasies and a Fashion Feast
A visit to the Trevi Fountain was truly a fairy tale experience. All those cascading waters, the ancient marble, the joyous atmosphere - it truly is the heart of Rome. And the fashion scene around Trevi was breathtaking. I saw the most stylish ladies from all corners of the globe, and I loved admiring their personal expressions. It made me feel ready to take on Rome’s iconic fashion boutiques!
Fashion Frenzy: Pink Is Always the Answer!
Rome's shops, oh my, are pure paradise for any fashionista! The elegant windows, the sleek displays, the designer clothes! But, true to my Pink Tutu spirit, my eyes were drawn to a beautiful pink leather jacket at the Palazzo delle Grandi Gallerie – a real treasure! The soft, buttery leather felt divine against my skin. It felt like an extension of my pink tutu and my very own Rome memento. I can’t wait to show it off on my next ballet performance.
Roman Aperitivos: All The Flavours
After an afternoon of retail therapy, a little rest was definitely needed. As the sun began to set, casting its golden glow on the city, I sat at a terrace restaurant by the Pantheon. My table was sprinkled with pink rose petals – another welcome addition! A beautiful “aperitivo” - a cocktail and a plate full of fresh, local snacks, helped me feel truly relaxed. It’s no wonder the Romans know how to live!
A Symphony of Culture
To my delight, on this particular Wednesday evening, there was a concert featuring some of the most amazing violinists in Italy at a gorgeous baroque church near Piazza Navona. The melody filled the air, it was just magical. It made me think about all the artistry and the cultural riches this city offers. I couldn’t help but wonder what it would be like to wear a pink tutu in a church during a classical concert – surely a sight to see!
Pink Tutu Roman Dream:
I truly believe that pink tutus can help bridge any cultural divides. They bring out the joy, the innocence and the whimsical beauty within all of us. And who better to represent this than me? This week, I saw Roman families enjoying gelato, children dancing, artists creating masterpieces. In those moments, I saw a spirit that could embrace my pink tutu. The warmth and passion that flows through these cobblestone streets feels so welcoming to a girl from Derbyshire who just wants to spread joy, a bit of pink magic and ballet's enchantment throughout the world.
