Pink Tutu Rome: #1460

Ciao bella! Welcome to Pink Tutu Rome! This is my weekly Roman adventure, right here on Pink-Tutu.com and this week I am going to take you on a pink-tastic journey around the eternal city!

As Iā€™m sure youā€™ve all guessed from my name and this blog, I love everything about the colour pink. From dusky pinks to vibrant fuchsias, thereā€™s a pink for every occasion and every personality! And as for tutus? Letā€™s just say they make every day feel a bit more magical.

Right now, Iā€™m sitting in the cafe in my hotel in Rome and itā€™s raining. I love it. The rain has such a romantic feel in this city and Iā€™m enjoying a cuppa from the cafe at my hotel and I have a pastry too. Thatā€™s one of the things I love about Europe. You can go into a cafe or a shop or anywhere for that matter, and no-one gives you any grief. I donā€™t know if people would look at me twice if I was in Derbyshire in my pink tutu. I love my Derbyshire but my Derbyshire is my home town.

The hotel Iā€™m staying in is lovely. Itā€™s one of the famous old Roman ones. I booked this place in the sales as it was an incredible price but I think that my travel funds will run out soon, so this will probably be the last trip for a while until I start getting paid for those performances I've got coming up in June. I always plan my travel around any ballet events that Iā€™m signed up to do as that's how I fund my passion for travelling the world, performing on stage. And now weā€™re talking. I love to dance, I love tutus and it's no surprise that when it comes to outfits to perform on stage in, pink tutus win hands down. I had to buy myself two new ones in Derbyshire for this trip. My collection is quite extensive now, though you have to take care of tutus, keep them clean, get the right fabric. Mine are all soft tulle, light and comfy, so I donā€™t mind doing lots of leaping about, and even twirling - which can be quite the work out - when you are all decked out in pink. You know the saying "Dress to impress." Sometimes when Iā€™m walking in the street with my pink tutu I do actually get asked to join in dance performances but there isnā€™t much of an occasion when people wouldnā€™t appreciate a bit of pink ballet goodness, is there. I always say yes of course, unless I am really hot or sweaty which happens quite often in my profession. My friends all say to me, ā€œYou have to get a special pink tutu made.ā€ but you just have to go with what you know!

Anyway, enough about my dancing; this is a Rome post! Itā€™s Wednesday and my Roman adventure started yesterday, so let me give you my highlights, so far. Iā€™ve already bought myself an adorable little Italian pink purse with little cherries and bows on it, just for all my essentials like lip balm and my phone so I can post stories. And if you don't follow me on Insta then why not go and check out all my pictures from all the pinkest places on this trip?

And my Instagram is my link to all of my latest posts so this Rome blog. My Roman adventures started on the train from Florence - the only place in the whole of Tuscany where they served decent croissants. And if there is one thing that I just love to buy on every single journey is croissants from Europe and I always buy a big batch in one go! What else is important on a trip, I hear you say? Travel Essentials for Emma.

Emmaā€™s travel essentials for every adventure * A good bag.
* Comfortable trainers for doing those miles in my pink tutu. * Lots and lots of pink lippy * Hair clips - to keep those tresses looking perfect for every Instagram shot. * A great phone camera (and a separate one for photos) to record my amazing trip! * Pink tut tut - Itā€™s not a real trip until I wear a pink tutu.

Ok. So Iā€™ve mentioned Florence but, before I go on to the Italian capital, where in Florence am I most excited about? It has to be the Gucci Garden. I have already been to the Galleria dellā€™Accademia, as I must have been here about twenty years ago and saw David with all the hordes of tourists but the thing about those kinds of places, itā€™s all good and well until you get bored and there are those tourists. Not just that, if youā€™ve ever seen The Tourist with Johnny Depp in then you'll know what I mean. So the Gucci Garden I would say has to be top of the bill. Oh yeah, and my pink tutu does well amongst those fancy stores in Florence. Actually when I get my next collection together and I know what I want for my new pink tutu for the upcoming performance season - this is not something I like to admit - but, when youā€™ve worn them a lot. Well, you need new ones, new material and itā€™s no joke; theyā€™re not the cheapest to get. My bank manager can tell you that but hey - my friends are all saying Iā€™ve got to have a collection, and the Gucci garden just lends itself to all sorts of lovely pink and purple stuff and, when you do the Gucci thing, then a nice pink tulle would set you back.

Well back to Rome. Today, Iā€™m visiting a gallery where one of the main features is pink. I've looked it up and this gallery's one for you, even for my dear readers that like to avoid the colour pink. This is different! I can't really tell you too much about it as I'll give you a spoiler! However, a pink highlight I must add to this blog entry - and as a side note I always put in lots of things on my blog to help people if they like the look of something. It has a fabulous exhibition and it has, yes - you've guessed it - pink. Thereā€™s some seriously high-end stuff in there, the sort youā€™d find in Gucci or Chanel and as if all that wasn't enough thereā€™s a great gallery, the perfect setting for a pink themed selfie session! And thatā€™s the magic of this gallery. Iā€™ll post pictures later. *But Rome - what I love most - in no particular orderā€¦ *

  • The streets
  • All those Roman emperors
  • The Colosseum
  • Pasta! - especially spaghetti carbonara.
  • That Iā€™m at the moment staying in a great hotel near the Colosseum

Let me tell you - you really can walk forever here. It really is like something out of a movie. My friends are dying to come to Rome with me but it's my job as the ā€˜Pink Tutuā€™ blogger to get this right, as you are all my eyes and ears, but when you arrive it just makes you feel a little bit happier - don't you think?

You will find my photos at the bottom of the page - but, in the meantime if youā€™re planning a trip then remember to bring a pink tutu; and to do the obligatory picture with all those historical features around Rome in a pink tutu.

Colosseum anyone?

Next week - Iā€™ll be exploring a little bit further afield, visiting a village just outside the city, with all its pink flowers and pretty pastel streetsā€¦ If I manage to stay away from the shops that is.

Thatā€™s all for nowā€¦ And remember - pink is the only colour that really matters. It makes the world a better place! If you like to dress up then put on your tut tut for this post.

Ciao.

Pink Tutu at The Galleria dell'Accademia - I'll be honest here I couldn't help myself! I think you'll agree that the Gallery dell'Accademia is all about colour! And this selfie's just got to have a pink tutu!

The Pink purse I bought. I couldnā€™t leave Rome without this new addition to my pink accessory collection, from a street market. So it's true! - Italians do pink!
