Pink Tutu Rome: Post 1469 - Ciao Bella!
Buongiorno, darlings! Itās Wednesday, and you know what that meansā¦ a brand new Pink Tutu blog post! šāØ This week, I'm beaming from the Eternal City, Rome, Italy. Oh, the cobbled streets, the fountains, the gelatoā¦ my heart is bursting with joy! I arrived by train, of course. I love that feeling of gliding through the countryside, my pink tutu swirling in the breeze ā itās like a ballet in itself!
Rome feels so wonderfully glamorous and steeped in history. From the Colosseum to the Pantheon, itās like stepping into a storybook. And don't even get me started on the shopping! Iām utterly smitten with the Italian flair for style. Imagine my delight finding a tiny shop bursting with the most exquisite pink tutus - they are just the ones I needed for my trip.
Now, let me share a little secretā¦ I always plan my travels around special events. You see, as a pink tutu-wearing ballerina, life is a stage! So, when I heard about the āRome Opera Festivalā, I just knew I had to be here.
I arrived yesterday and had the most amazing lunch on a terrace overlooking the Forum. It was a little slice of Italian heaven - fresh pasta, bubbly prosecco and my trusty pink tutu of course! I felt like a princess. And talking of princesses, wouldn't you agree that the Italian Renaissance art in the Capitoline Museums deserves a standing ovation? It's pure visual ballet, isnāt it?
Tonight, I'm seeing a stunning performance of āLa Traviataā at the Teatro dellāOpera di Roma. My heart is already fluttering! Imagine: a grand opera house, the rich tapestry of music, and a dazzling array of tutus ā it's a dream come true.
Now, I'll be honest, Rome can feel overwhelming at times. Itās buzzing with tourists and there are cobblestones everywhere! But this is where my tutu skills come in handy. Twirling through crowds? No problem. Negotiating cobbled streets? No issue! (My dear friend Emily from Derbyshire once told me, "Never be afraid to fall flat on your face, Emma, just do it in a beautiful, tutu-covered way." š)
And speaking of dancing, I just HAD to share with you the āDancing with the Romansā event happening at the Spanish Steps this Saturday. The idea is for locals and tourists to come together to learn simple ballet routines, then perform them in a flash mob on the steps. Talk about a chance to embrace the art form in a beautiful and unexpected way! You bet Iām signing up for that!
One of my favourite things about travelling is exploring the local food markets. Today, I got lost in the Testaccio Market, an amazing haven for fresh produce, artisan cheeses and cured meats. The colours were so vibrant and the smells so intoxicating. Itās no surprise Rome is known for its gastronomy ā everything is cooked with so much love.
Rome, I'm utterly besotted. Every corner feels like a picture-perfect scene.
The days are getting shorter now, but even as dusk descends, Rome remains captivating. It feels like the whole city is basking in a warm glow, like a theatre bathed in spotlight. And Iām taking it all in, every moment.
Of course, I'm always looking for the perfect pink tutu for every occasion, but what's a Pink Tutu girl to do in Rome? Naturally, I had to find the ultimate pink outfit for my trip - think light and flowy silks in a delicate shade of rose, with a statement feather boa, because even a pink tutu queen can't resist a touch of theatre!
This blog has been a quick look into my Italian escapade, and I can't wait to tell you all about my adventures on next Wednesday's post. Remember to keep it fabulous, and of course, stay tutu-rific! š
