Pink Tutu Rome: Post 1470 - Where Every Day's a Performance! ๐ฉฐ๐ฎ๐น
Ciao bella! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for your weekly dose of pink tulle, travel tales, and a sprinkle of Italian sunshine! This week, we're dancing our way through the ancient streets of Rome, where every cobblestone is a stage and every fountain a prop for our own personal performance.
As you know, dear readers, a girl in a pink tutu is never far from a ballet show, and Rome certainly did not disappoint. I practically danced my way off the train, feeling every bit the prima ballerina in my new, specially-designed "Roman Holiday" tutu โ a confection of dusty rose, ivory and the tiniest touch of gold sequins. Imagine the whispers of the Colosseum as I sashayed through the bustling crowds, the only thing louder than the gelato cart bells was the chorus of "Aahs" and "Oohs" I was garnering. Honestly, who needs a spotlight when you've got a pink tutu? ๐
But before we get to the ballets, let's talk about the city itself! I've got to say, Rome is pure magic. The history is tangible โ just the sheer scale of these ancient structures, like the Pantheon and the Forum, gives you chills. You can practically hear the echoes of Roman legions marching through those stone halls. But Rome isn't just about history; it's vibrant and bursting with life, especially in the charming Trastevere neighbourhood where I've been staying.
Fashion Find: The Roman TouchShopping is a MUST in Rome. From the chic boutiques on Via Condotti to the vibrant vintage finds tucked away in hidden alleys, this city is a feast for the eyes. I had to indulge in some "retail therapy," of course, and found the most beautiful pink silk scarf, a vibrant fuchsia scarf with tiny Roman-inspired motifs - I paired it with my favourite tutu for a touch of Roman glamour. The perfect finishing touch, don't you think?
Now, you all know how much I adore a good ballet performance, so when I discovered that the Teatro dellโOpera di Roma was showcasing "The Sleeping Beauty," I almost burst into pirouettes. Oh, darling, it was sublime! The dancing was exquisite, the costumes stunning โ imagine shimmering silks in emerald and cerulean blue, and the sheer romance of it all just melted my heart. Afterwards, I managed to sneak backstage (pink tutu does wonders for sneaking, apparently) for a quick chat with the dancers โ so talented and gracious! We even posed for a picture together โ and of course, the lead ballerina was wearing pink! (Shocking, I know! ๐คฃ)
A Tuscan Train AdventureThe day after the ballet, I ventured outside of Rome, taking a train to the charming Tuscan town of Siena. (Travelling by train is definitely my preferred mode of transport, so much more romantic than planes.)
Siena, oh Siena, what a picture-perfect little town! Itโs steeped in history and charm, the main square, the Piazza del Campo, was absolutely buzzing with energy - a stunning example of medieval architecture and a stage for countless public performances, feasts, and parades throughout the year. I felt like I was transported back in time โ an absolutely enchanting experience.
Delicious Discoveries: Pasta and Pink ProseccoSpeaking of enchantment, no trip to Italy would be complete without indulging in the delicious delights. I can honestly say I've never tasted pasta quite like it. Each dish was a masterpiece, from the perfectly cooked spaghetti alla carbonara to the creamy gnocchi alla Romana. (Did you know? Rome is famous for its gnocchi โ creamy and cheesy heaven!) And then, of course, there's the wine... ๐ท My absolute favourite has to be pink Prosecco โ so bubbly and refreshing. Perfect with my "pink-tutu-and-sunshine" kind of day!
A Word to My Tutu-Wearers: Spread the Joy!I have to say, Rome has reignited my passion for all things pink and fluffy. I'm utterly smitten with this beautiful city โ its vibrant culture, historical charm, delicious food, and the friendly faces everywhere I go have all woven a magical spell upon me. I am definitely coming back for more!
I've noticed that my "Roman Holiday" tutu has inspired some locals to embrace their inner ballerina โ I've spotted a few tutus in the Piazza Navona. And let's be honest, it only takes one tutu to inspire a whole city, don't you think? So go on, my dears, let's spread the pink tutu love far and wide! Wear your heart on your sleeve (or in a tutu, I should say!) and let's show the world just how much fun fashion and ballet can be. Until next week, when we explore another enchanting city (a big hint โ it's full of canals and even more pink things! ๐), Iโll be posting all my photos on my social media pages so follow me to see all my adventures. Don't forget to tell me what you think about Rome in the comments!
Ciao for now!
Yours in pink,
Emma ๐ฉฐ ๐
