#PinkTutuRome Wednesday 2023-10-18 exploring Rome Italy

Ciao, darlings!

Welcome back to #PinkTutuRome, my weekly exploration of the Eternal City! This week's been an absolute whirlwind of Italian sunshine, stunning architecture, and some serious sartorial inspiration! As usual, I've been documenting everything in pink, naturally - because Rome is the perfect city for twirling in a tutu.

Rome - I arrived here last Saturday on the Eurostar, you know how much I adore train journeys, and this one didn't disappoint! I had a whole carriage to myself, perfect for planning out my Rome wardrobe! Let's just say my suitcase is overflowing with fabulous frocks, blush-toned shoes, and, of course, my go-to pink tutus! I can't help myself, they just scream Roman elegance!

My first few days have been a fashion fiesta. I'm absolutely loving the vintage boutiques around Trastevere - they're overflowing with treasures, and the prices are unbeatable! Imagine my delight when I stumbled upon the most glorious pink silk dress – you just wouldn't believe how perfect it is! I’m planning to wear it to see the Roman ballet, a spectacular performance, a bit later in the week - a classic tutu-tastic night out for me, I even snagged some delightful statement earrings and a pearl necklace to complement my ballerina look - a touch of sparkle is always a good thing, right? And did I tell you about the hand-stitched pink leather sandals I found - a real vintage gem, you can see why I couldn't resist.

Now, enough about clothes - although, I know you, my dear readers, are as excited about these fashion finds as I am! Let's talk about Rome itself! I've spent the last few days exploring some of the most iconic landmarks.

The Colosseum! Oh my goodness, what a sight to behold! You have to picture it - the warm Italian sunlight, the ancient stones, and me, twirling my tutu in the centre, trying my best to picture gladiators battling it out in this magnificent arena! Honestly, a girl can't help but get swept up in the grandeur of it all! And the Trevi Fountain? What a breathtaking spectacle, it's almost impossible not to throw a coin in there and make a wish! I, of course, wished for more travel, more dance, and maybe even a pink tutu for every single person on earth – a girl can dream, right?

Of course, no visit to Italy is complete without indulging in the local cuisine! The gelato is divine, especially in the pink-hued pistachio flavour. You wouldn't believe the joy it brought me to simply sit by the Trevi fountain, scooping it into my mouth and feeling the delicious creamy textures explode in my tastebuds - a truly heavenly experience!

And then there's the pasta! You know, as much as I adore tutus and travelling, the sheer joy of devouring the best spaghetti alla carbonara is really something! It's a food fantasy come to life, it's simply irresistible. And I can't wait to sample some Roman pizza next.

Honestly, my time here in Rome so far has been utterly enchanting. Every corner is a discovery waiting to be unveiled, and the charm of the people here has really swept me off my feet. It's such a joyful and vibrant city, filled with a real love for life that makes you want to twirl around the Piazza Navona!

I’m already making plans to return for my annual pink tutu ballerina pilgrimage here next year - I just know there’ll be a brand new ballerina pink dress, some exciting shopping, delicious treats, and maybe, just maybe, another Roman love affair for #PinkTutuRome!

Speaking of the ballerina dream, I have some exciting news! I managed to book tickets to a Roman ballet on the 19th! Oh, the excitement! I can’t wait to let loose and immerse myself in the magic of ballet in this truly romantic city - maybe I'll even wear the pink silk dress I found - we'll see!
