Pink Tutu Rome: Week 1500 - Exploring the Eternal City in a Twirl!

Ciao bella!

Welcome back to Pink Tutu Rome, my weekly dose of pink-hued adventures from the heart of Italy! Today marks a very special milestone - this is post number 1500 on Pink Tutu! I can't believe it's been so long since I embarked on this whirlwind journey of ballet, fashion, and travel. I'm so grateful for all of you who have joined me along the way. It feels like yesterday I was twirling around the streets of Derbyshire, dreaming of pirouette-ing my way around the world. And here I am, in the glorious city of Rome, with a wardrobe bursting with fabulous frocks and a tutu that's seen more sunsets than I can count!

Speaking of twirling, this week I was lucky enough to catch a show at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. I mean, seriously, can you imagine?! Dancing beneath a breathtakingly ornate ceiling, surrounded by centuries of history and elegance - the whole experience was like stepping into a dream. I even had the chance to chat with a couple of the dancers afterwards - they were so kind and gracious, sharing stories of their craft and the rigors of performing in such a prestigious venue. The show was stunning - the choreography, the costumes, the music, it was pure artistry in motion!

Now, we all know I live for a good ballet performance, but what makes Rome truly special is the captivating blend of history and culture. Every cobblestone street is an art gallery, every corner reveals a captivating story. On Saturday, I was utterly enchanted by the Colosseum - it's just such a magnificent piece of history. I actually felt like I was stepping back in time and could picture gladiators battling and emperors waving to the crowds. I couldn't help but let out a little cha-cha move in the grand arena - wouldn't it be spectacular to stage a full-on ballet show in such a legendary space?

I must confess, a bit of a ballet-inspired photo shoot happened inside the Colosseum... with my tutu of course! ๐Ÿ˜‰ It was a bit daring, I won't deny it, but you've got to seize the moment!

My love affair with Italy wouldn't be complete without indulging in a little bit of retail therapy, and trust me, Rome delivers on that front. The vintage boutiques are a treasure trove of unique and elegant finds. I picked up a beautiful coral-pink cashmere scarf with delicate tassels - it perfectly complements my tutu! I can just see myself rocking it during my next ballet performance. I swear, my entire wardrobe is inspired by the pink shades I find on my adventures. The whole city is practically my personal shade-palette!

To my fellow tutu lovers, you can bet your bottom dollar that my favourite Rome boutique discovery was a quirky shop brimming with adorable tutus in every colour imaginable. Of course, pink held the prime spot! Let's be honest, the shop owner and I bonded over our shared love for all things twirly, and now I have an exciting project up my sleeve - stay tuned for details soon!

So, what did I do for my Sunday in Rome? Well, let's just say I indulged my inner foodie and took a mouthwatering tour of Trastevere - a charming neighbourhood packed with traditional trattorias, cobbled streets, and enough yummy gelato to make you giddy. We were spoiled with fresh pasta, wood-fired pizza, and of course, delicious wine. It was the perfect way to cap off a whirlwind weekend.

The week wouldn't be complete without exploring some breathtaking churches. And I'm talking stunning cathedrals. Rome boasts an extraordinary amount of historical religious buildings. It is, after all, a place that's played a significant role in the history of the Catholic Church.

This week's blog was full of pink and a fair few tutus but the biggest takeaway, my darling twirl-tastic readers? Embrace life, chase your dreams, and never forget the magic of a well-placed piquรฉ!

Love,

Emma xx www.pink-tutu.com
