Pink Tutu Rome: Post #1501 - Wednesday 2024-03-13 - The Eternal City En Pointe
Buongiorno from Rome, darlings! It's Wednesday, and that means it's Pink Tutu Rome day on www.pink-tutu.com! Iām absolutely thrilled to be bringing you all my latest adventures in the Eternal City. Today's post is all about the magic, the sunshine, the food, and the sheer joie de vivre I'm experiencing here. As usual, my pink tutu is front and centre, twirling its way through this most exquisite of cities! I mean, who can resist a good twirl, especially when surrounded by such breathtaking beauty?
It's been a whirlwind of a week here in Rome. As I stepped off the train from Florence, the scent of pizza and the roar of Vespa engines welcomed me with open arms. You can truly feel the pulse of the city beating under your feet. I'm staying in a lovely little boutique hotel near the Pantheon. I mean, how could I resist a room with a view of the most amazing domed structure in the world? It's been like living in a fairytale, except with wifi, air conditioning, and a heavenly gelato shop just downstairs.
This weekās Rome adventures were a wonderful mix of iconic sights, secret discoveries, and the sheer joy of letting my pink tutu float around the cobblestone streets. Did you know that March is the perfect time to visit Rome? The weather's warm enough for wandering, but the crowds aren't overwhelming. I spent most of Monday, like, really truly just wandering! Itās my favourite thing to do, especially when you can just follow your nose down one narrow street after another, then discover something like a courtyard bursting with blossoming almond trees or a hidden bar with live jazz music and the tastiest local wine youāve ever had in your life.
I have to tell you, dear reader, Tuesday brought me to the Colosseum. Imagine my delight, surrounded by such sheer scale and history, in my pink tutu! This incredible arena just demanded a good pirouette, so, with the wind whipping through my tutu and a flourish of my arm, I spun around, lost in a moment of time.
Later that afternoon, I found myself exploring the Trastevere neighborhood, a treasure trove of art galleries, cosy cafĆ©s, and vintage shops. Itās here, under a canopy of vine-laden arches, I snagged myself a stunning pair of pink-tinted sunglasses ā my latest sartorial find and a must-have for every Roman summer stroll! The vibe here is absolutely electric, all candlelit bars with bohemian bands, lively music spilling onto the cobblestones, and even, in one bar, a lovely little dog curled up on a velvet cushion at the foot of the piano!
It was a true feast for the senses, and that evening, as I enjoyed an al fresco dinner, serenaded by street musicians and fuelled by the energy of Rome, I felt utterly and completely enchanted by this city! After a fantastic day, my toes (in my new sparkly ballet shoes, naturally), did call it a night! I've got to be ready for the most wonderful of ballets: the Ballet Rome! You're not going to believe it, but on Friday, I get to see āGiselle.ā Just imagine the costumes! The dancing! Oh, the twirls, darling, the TWIRLS!! Of course, I am wearing a stunning blush pink tutu and coordinating accessories ā the ballet is truly where my heart belongs, and itās the source of all these lovely little journeys around Europe.
Of course, what would a Pink Tutu Rome trip be without some divine food? Rome has got to have one of the best food scenes in the whole world! Oh, the food. Oh, the pasta. Oh, the glorious, glorious wine.
From hearty Roman pasta dishes in authentic trattorias to melt-in-your-mouth tiramisu with creamy espresso - Rome is a food-lovers' paradise, Iām already plotting out a visit to a chocolate shop, oh yes! If Iām completely honest, you probably already know this, I adore finding new foods, but if I was allowed to indulge in one single thingā¦ Itās a toss-up between pasta with a big helping of local, juicy tomatoes andā¦ tiramisu!!
Wednesday has been a glorious day exploring Romeās famous Trevi Fountain. What a masterpiece! This stunning fountain truly needs to be seen to be believed! The sheer size and elegance are almost beyond description. Of course, I had to toss a coin in the fountain ā hoping for a lifetime of happy memories (and a repeat trip to Rome!).
But the day isnāt over just yet! A stroll through the ancient ruins and I'm feeling completely inspired by Rome's timeless beauty. You can truly feel the history radiating from the cobbles, the ruins, and every nook and cranny.
The sheer architectural brilliance is everywhere ā from grand Baroque masterpieces like St Peterās Basilica to humble stone cottages draped in bougainvillea. You know, my friends, youāve got to remember this; The world is a stage, and Romeās been a masterpiece for centuries! Itās been a truly dazzling and vibrant day, one thatās made me completely fall head over heels for this enchanting city! Rome, I love you already!

See you next Wednesday, darlings, when I'll be taking you behind the scenes of Giselle and a whirlwind journey through Rome's fashion district ā you know there will be a special tutu outfit for the occasion, my darlings! Until then, remember, a little pink tutu is all it takes to make the world a brighter and more beautiful place.
Now, where's that gelato, darling? I need some serious sugar and an excuse for a twirl! Ciao!
Lots of pink love and twirls,
Emma xo
