Hey everyone! It's Emma, your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina, and guess what? I'm in Rome! Cue the trumpets and confetti!
This is post number 1565 on my www.pink-tutu.com blog, and it's a very special one, because it's all about the wonders of the Eternal City! I've been itching to explore Rome for ages, and it definitely did not disappoint. Every corner seemed to reveal another hidden gem, another historical masterpiece, and all topped off with the most delicious gelato you can imagine.
As usual, I arrived in style, taking the train all the way from Derbyshire - it's such a civilised way to travel, don't you think? You get to see the countryside unfold like a beautiful tapestry and enjoy the little cafes and restaurants along the way. It was a long journey, but worth every minute.
Rome welcomed me with open arms, literally, because everyone was so incredibly friendly and welcoming! I even spotted a group of street performers dancing a beautiful flamenco routine, and let's just say it's inspiring me to add some fiery flamenco steps to my repertoire. I think a touch of Spain would be quite the "oomph" factor in my next ballet performance!
Let's Talk Pink (and Tutus) in Rome
You know me, pink is my thing! And guess what? Rome is pretty much a giant pink palace when it comes to my colour! There are so many amazing pastel-toned buildings, cute pink boutiques with the most divine fabrics, and even pink gelato! I indulged in several scoops of pink gelato - strawberries and cream, naturally - while soaking up the beauty of the Colosseum. The historical context? Amazing! The colour scheme? Pink-tastic!
Speaking of fashion, the fashion in Rome is out of this world! People really take pride in their appearance here. Even the ladies working at the trattorias look fabulous! I canāt help myself but peek in every window I pass to admire the outfits, particularly those with the gorgeous floral patterns, flowing silk, and vibrant colours. It's like stepping into a glamorous movie set! And don't even get me started on the shoe shops - I almost lost myself in a whirlwind of leather boots and delicate pumps.
A Ballet Journey Through Time
While Rome might be famed for its gladiators and emperors, I found the city also whispers with the graceful rhythm of ballet. You could almost hear the "pas de bourrĆ©e" echoing through the ancient arches. The Teatro dellāOpera di Roma, built in the late 1800s, boasts stunning performances. This weekend, I'll be indulging in a spectacular evening of āSwan Lakeā and am beyond excited. Can you imagine being in the audience and hearing those famous melodies as Tchaikovsky himself intended? There is nothing like it!
Food, Glorious Food!
Besides ballet and fashion, what else defines Italy? Food, of course! The pizzas, pastas, and pastries...I'm just drooling thinking about them! And the gelato? Forget it! It's divine!
One of the things that surprised me is how much fresh produce is used here. They say āfrom the farm to the plateā, and you really can taste the difference. Everything from my morning cappuccinos to my evening meals were fresh and flavourful. Even the gelato, as heavenly as it is, had a delicious natural taste!
The Pink Tutu Pilgrimage Begins
So far, Rome has been everything I imagined and more! But one thing is missing: more pink tutus! My mission? To share my passion and encourage every woman, every girl in this glorious city, to embrace their inner ballerina. Rome, you're so stylish and ready for the Tutu Revolution! It's only a matter of time.
Where to find the best Pink Tutu moments in Rome (so far!)
The Spanish Steps with its vibrant atmosphere, blooming flowers, and stylish locals, are begging for a tutu twist. Imagine a beautiful pink tutu ballerina gracing these iconic steps!
The Trevi Fountain: What better place to throw in a coin (and a twirl?)! This magnificent fountain, sparkling with light, seems to ask for a graceful ballet performance in front of its marble majesty.
Trastevere is like a magical maze, with its winding cobbled streets and enchanting squares. Imagine a Pink Tutu Stroll through Trastevere - the perfect Instagram-worthy moment!
Borghese Gallery: It houses an impressive collection of paintings and sculptures and is located within a beautiful park. The art inspired, elegant atmosphere of Borghese Gallery will be begging for a graceful, pink-clad ballet performance.
Piazza Navona: With its lively ambiance, street performers, and gelato stands, it is the perfect spot for a spontaneous tutu flash mob! Imagine, pink tutus popping out from the bustling crowds, taking the stage to the rhythm of Rome.
