Hello, darlings! I'm so excited to share my latest adventure with you – I'm in the Eternal City, Rome! ? Ever since I saw the "La Traviata" ballet here, a vision of cobbled streets and grand piazzas swirling with pastel tutus dancing beneath the Roman sun, I've dreamed of exploring this incredible city. Now, here I am, with my pink tulle tutu whirling around my ankles, ready to soak up the vibrant culture, discover hidden gems, and (of course) hunt down the perfect pink tutu shop! ?
As you know, my love of travel is inextricably linked with ballet. I love discovering ballet history and catching amazing performances. Luckily for me, my recent performance at the Derby Playhouse, funded by a little ballet-inspired crowdfunding, allowed me to splurge on a first-class train ticket to Rome. Let me tell you, there's something so liberating about travelling by train. Watching the countryside blur by and the cities roll in feels like a fairytale coming to life! ?
Rome: My First Impressions
I arrived at Roma Termini station feeling a little like Cinderella – I'd traded my dancing shoes for trainers but I was still dreaming of a fairy-tale escape. As I stepped outside, the bustling city came alive with the sound of street performers and honking cars. Even the air smells different here – a heady mix of coffee, bread, and something floral, reminding me of that decadent gelato I devoured on my way to the Colosseum this morning.?
The Colosseum – it really is as impressive as it looks in the pictures. Standing inside, I could just imagine gladiators fighting beneath the blistering sun. Honestly, I could even picture myself performing there, but in a delicate tulle tutu, naturally! ?
But Rome isn't just about ancient ruins, darlings! I spent the afternoon strolling through the picturesque Piazza Navona, marveling at Bernini's Fountain of Four Rivers. It was the perfect spot to watch the world go by and admire the locals enjoying their aperitivo – which I had to try, of course! It turns out, Italian sparkling wine pairs quite nicely with my new pink beret. ?
Pink Tutu Paradise: Shopping in Rome!
No trip is complete without a little shopping spree, right? And Rome is a paradise for fashionistas! ?️ From the bustling designer boutiques around Via Condotti to the independent vintage stores tucked away in cobbled alleyways, I'm practically overwhelmed by the choices. While I haven't yet found a true "Pink Tutu" haven, I have discovered some charming shops filled with delightful floral dresses and dreamy pastel scarves – perfect additions to my "pink-tutu wardrobe."
Speaking of which, I couldn't resist picking up a few accessories to complete my Roman look: a dainty silver bracelet with a miniature Roman coin, a woven straw bag that whispers "dolce vita," and a chic leather journal to jot down all my romantic thoughts about Rome. ?
Ballet in Rome: The "Roman Holiday" I've Been Dreaming Of!
Now, you all know my heart beats for ballet, so a visit to Rome wouldn't be complete without witnessing the magic on stage. I've been dying to see "Romeo and Juliet" performed at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma – and I've secured two tickets to the performance on Friday night. The anticipation is real! ?
Just imagining the passionate choreography, the beautiful costumes, the powerful emotion - it feels like it's going to be the perfect climax to my Italian adventure. I’ll be sure to give you a full rundown of the performance next week – and hopefully, some pictures to show you! ?

Speaking of next week, I'll be heading to Florence for the next leg of my Italian adventure! ? There's a captivating dance show I've heard about featuring dancers from all over the world - I'm excited to immerse myself in this stunning city.
