Buongiorno, darlings!
This week finds me twirling through the vibrant streets of Rome, and let me tell you, this city is absolutely captivating! I arrived last Saturday by train, a mode of transport I always enjoy for its relaxing journey and the chance to watch the scenery blur by. I couldn't wait to explore this city steeped in history, art, and oh-so-much pizza!
A Ballet Bonanza
Now, you know my love for all things ballet, and Rome did not disappoint! My week kicked off with a breathtaking performance at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. I felt my heart flutter as the curtains rose and the orchestra’s melody filled the grand auditorium. The dancers were divine, each movement so graceful and expressive, telling stories without uttering a word.
There's a certain magic about ballet that's just indescribable, it makes me feel utterly joyful and reminds me of the beauty in the world. After the performance, I felt inspired and energized. I just had to hit the dance studio for some practice! It was a great opportunity to put those steps I learned during my recent pointe work class back in Derby to the test, all under the watchful eye of a talented instructor in the heart of Rome.
Shopping for the Pink Tutu Dream
A trip to Rome would not be complete without a shopping spree! My favourite pastime - shopping for fab clothes, shoes and of course, tutus! I confess, I did a little ballet shopping at a chic boutique in the Monti neighbourhood. I stumbled upon the most gorgeous tulle skirt with an ombre pink effect. It’s like a dream come true, so it will be the star of many of my future Instagram photos! I’ve also found myself adding some fab accessories to my collection, including a vintage pearl necklace that will complement any pink tutu I choose to wear!
The Colosseum and a Pink Tutu Twist
Today, we went to visit the Colosseum, and my heart was in my throat! This architectural masterpiece is just enormous and so impressive. While the historical grandeur was undoubtedly overwhelming, I also felt a whimsical need to inject a bit of colour into this scene. I spotted a small vintage shop with beautiful flower arrangements and promptly picked up a lovely bunch of blush-coloured roses. As we admired the Colosseum, I took my own little performance in the grounds – twirling, posing, and snapping photos, all with my vibrant pink tulle in full swing! It's always fun to break out of the norm and add a splash of personal style to wherever I go. And wouldn't you know it, the other tourists seemed to adore my vibrant addition! Many even struck up conversations with me, eager to know more about the 'pink tutu girl'!
Food Glorious Food - A Culinary Romp
Of course, no trip to Rome would be complete without embracing the delicious culinary offerings! From the creamy gelato in every flavour imaginable to the hearty pasta dishes, each bite was an explosion of flavour. This is what makes me happy! And did I mention the Aperol Spritzes? Perfection.
Onwards to Venice - A Pink Tutu Itinerary
After spending a week soaking in all the wonders of Rome, my next stop is Venice! Yes, the city of canals, bridges, and the romantic architecture of gondola rides.
I have already started planning my itinerary: I will be making sure to check out the Venice Biennale, exploring its unique mix of contemporary art, design and performance! And what’s a Venetian trip without some gondola rides? And a visit to the stunning Peggy Guggenheim Collection! I can't wait to explore the galleries and discover new works by amazing artists! And of course, no trip to Venice is complete without wearing my most glamorous pink tutu and capturing the enchanting scenery with some stunning Instagram shots!
Pink Tutu Life is the Best Life!
There's something truly magical about sharing my experiences and the wonders of this amazing city through the lens of my pink tutu. I feel so fortunate to be able to combine my passion for travel, fashion, and ballet, all while inspiring others to embrace a touch of joy in their lives!
