Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! #1641

Hello darlings, and welcome back to Pink Tutu! Today I'm writing to you from the most beautiful city in the world, Rome! As you all know, I adore a bit of a train journey, and there's just something so romantic about arriving in a new city by rail. The journey from Derbyshire took me through the rolling green hills of France, and then into the breathtaking landscape of Tuscany, before finally arriving at the heart of Rome, Termini station.

Speaking of romantic, this city is like stepping straight into a fairytale! I could almost hear a romantic symphony in the air. You know, with those big, sweeping orchestral notes? This place has the "dolce vita" written all over it. Just as I step out onto the cobbled streets, a gelato cart with a bright pink flag (because, hello, it's my colour!), caught my eye. I just had to grab a scoop, it was like licking the heavens, all smooth and creamy.

Now, Rome isn't just about charming cobblestones and gelato though. I'm on a mission to find all the hidden ballet gems this city has to offer. And you know, being a pink tutu enthusiast, a trip to the world-famous Opera House was high on the agenda. On my very first day, I twirled right into the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, the opera house in Rome. This is a truly stunning place, draped in history and exquisite architecture, but the heart of it is the sheer magic of live performance.

You can’t imagine my excitement. They were staging a ballet show with my favourite choreographer, Roberto Bolle. The very Roberto Bolle. The one with the legs that go on for miles and a pirouette that can make your heart stop! I could tell I was in for a treat.

The show was fantastic! Bolle was just divine. He glided across the stage with a lightness and grace that would put any butterfly to shame. And the choreography! Oh, the choreography! Every single movement was a story in itself. I even saw a few moves that gave me ideas for my next ballet performance (more on that later, you know how much I love performing on the street in my pink tutu). Let’s just say I left the show with a whole new bag of tricks up my sleeve. But you know me, even though I’m a true pink tutu and ballet fan, my favourite thing about going to any theatre or performance, is watching people dressed to impress! Oh my god, I have found a new wonderland of fashion here in Rome. It was like every person walking into the opera was a character in a glamorous movie. I had to take a hundred photographs to show you all!

My Rome Style Diary

Now, as you all know, fashion is a big part of who I am. The city of Rome has been whispering to my inner stylist! And my pink tutu is just as much a fashion statement as a statement of my love for ballet. You know, the pink tutu transcends the boundaries of ballet. It is more than just a garment, it’s a feeling, a lifestyle! It’s a sign to the world that I’m ready to twirl through life, and I want to encourage you all to wear your pink tutus with confidence and joy, too!

Here in Rome, the cobbled streets themselves are a runway! Every single corner offers a new fashion inspiration! It's been such a delight to soak up all the style inspiration on offer here. From the chic ladies dressed in Valentino to the stylish men in their impeccably tailored suits, everyone knows how to work a look.

I even had the chance to go shopping at a couple of high-end designer boutiques (let’s be real, this was all in the name of research!). You guys won’t believe what I found! A divine vintage Gucci purse in the perfect shade of pink. And don’t even get me started on the gorgeous dresses! I practically lived in a dress all week and the men looked just as amazing!

A Day in My Pink Tutu in Rome

Today, I’ve been exploring the historic heart of Rome. The city is filled with so many incredible monuments and historical sites, each one with a story to tell. I started the day at the Colosseum! What an impressive place. You can still imagine gladiators fighting, all those centuries ago, in the shadows of the Coliseum. And just down the street, is the Trevi Fountain, Oh, so grand. There’s even a cute little cafe near the Trevi fountain. And guess what they had for lunch – a delicious pizza with pink prosciutto, and an incredibly charming pink gingham tablecloth! What can I say? It seems this colour is really doing its magic here! My favourite thing? Throwing a coin in the fountain for good luck, and watching the birds circling overhead.

Then, I wandered around, soaking in the beauty of the Spanish Steps. It's just the most beautiful staircase in the world, all white and dramatic, against the azure sky.

But as beautiful as it all is, you can bet your tutu that I always have a backup pair of ballet shoes hidden in my bag. It's all about keeping it real. Rome is a city full of energy and excitement. Every square feels alive! In fact, a few of my fellow pink tutu fans have joined me on this trip and it just felt so perfect to head out for some spontaneous street performance, all in our pink tutus! I am getting my Pink Tutu movement going in the streets of Rome! We really showed these Roman’s a good time! And what do you know? We even got an invite to a ballet performance. And of course, we all donned our pink tutus, making us stand out in the crowd.

Later today, I’m meeting up with some of the girls for a lovely long dinner and a walk along the Tiber River. As night falls, the city comes alive with a unique, captivating beauty.

I've only been here a few days but I’ve already realised that there’s something about Rome. It just stays with you.

Stay tuned, my darlings. I have a whole week planned filled with more amazing sights, delicious Italian cuisine, and lots more pink tutu adventures. If you’re in Rome, send me a message! Don't forget to visit www.pink-tutu.com next Wednesday to catch my latest adventure from Rome. Until next time, stay sparkly!
