Hello my dearest Pink Tutu fans!
It’s Emma here, reporting live from the Eternal City! Can you believe it? I’m in Rome! After a delightful train journey across the European countryside (yes, you guessed it – in my favourite pink tutu, of course!), I’ve arrived in the city of emperors, artists, and of course, gelato!
This week on Pink Tutu Rome, we're going to explore the fashion, the food, and the fabulousness of Rome, but most importantly, we're going to make it a Pink Tutu Adventure! It's time to make those Italians think twice about their chic black attire, and maybe even don a tutu themselves (fingers crossed!).
The Train Journey: A Ballerina’s Dream
I love the anticipation that comes with a long train journey. It's a perfect opportunity to delve into a good book (I'm currently rereading 'Giselle', a classic ballet story with a touch of romance and tragedy!), have a little nibble on my packed picnic (featuring pink, naturally!), and of course, people-watch. There’s something so fascinating about the different faces, languages, and destinations we share on these rolling journeys. And this train trip across Europe was particularly scenic – the rolling countryside and mountain passes left me in awe. It was a journey through art itself, mirroring the paintings I've seen in so many of Europe's art museums.
Roma Dolce: Where The Pasta Is Always Pink (Okay, Maybe Not)
The train station at Rome Termini was a buzzing hive of activity. But the friendly staff helped me navigate my way through with a smile. Now, I have to tell you about this magnificent hotel I'm staying in – The Pink Palace, not its real name, of course, but it felt like it should be.
Shopping for a Pink Tutu Dream
After a well-deserved nap (all that travelling is tiring!), I ventured into the vibrant streets of Rome. You all know I love a good shopping trip, and Rome, oh darling Rome, has not disappointed. I discovered this amazing shop called “Il Balletto Rosa" (The Pink Ballet!). They had the most delightful collection of vintage ballet shoes and tutus. I even managed to find a gorgeous silk pink scarf that reminded me of a dancer's graceful movement, and some amazing sparkly ballet pumps for the evening. I was definitely getting into the Roma spirit with this vibrant shop!
Dinner and Dancing (Okay, Maybe More Dancing)
Tonight, we're going to the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, one of the most prestigious opera houses in Italy! I’m not just going to watch the ballet (the ballet program includes Swan Lake, so I'm particularly excited!) but I also got an invite to attend a pre-show cocktail reception and I even plan to try out the dance floor afterwards. This, my dearest Tutu fans, will be the ultimate Pink Tutu celebration, combining all my loves – the theatre, dancing, and my beautiful pink tutu!
Pink Tutu Power:
I'm constantly amazed by how the pink tutu can be used to break down boundaries, even in places like Italy, where style is renowned. Today, as I strolled through the charming narrow streets, I caught many eyes. Some stared in astonishment, some looked amused, but mostly, I saw intrigued smiles and curiosity. I had several people stop me asking "Is it for ballet?" "Do you wear it everyday?" And even "Can I take a picture of you?" They seemed genuinely curious, intrigued by the "unconventional" fashion statement that is a pink tutu. My goal, remember, is to inspire everyone to find their inner ballerina and embrace their unique style.
The Italian Ballerina Dream:
And you know what? It seems I might have inspired some Romans! I was at the most divine gelato shop – it even had a pink flamingo painted on the side, oh how I adore pink flamingoes! – when I saw a group of young girls with bright pink tutus and hair ribbons! I swear they looked straight out of a Barbie movie! I chatted with them and they told me that they started wearing tutus after seeing my blog! It was an emotional moment for me. My mission to make the world pink is a slow and beautiful journey, one tutu at a time.
