#PinkTutuRome Wednesday 2027-03-24 exploring Rome Italy

Well, hello my beautiful darlings! It's your favourite tutu-tastic traveller, Emma, reporting live from the Eternal City - Rome, Italy!

Wednesdays are always so exciting for me because it's Pink Tutu Rome Day! Each week, I take you all on a fabulous journey with me, sharing all the adventures and pink delights that I discover in this breathtaking city. It's like my own personal fairytale, filled with cobbled streets, magnificent architecture, delicious food, and endless opportunities for pink-tutu-themed photo shoots (you know I have to! ?).

And what a journey it has been so far! We've already twirled through the Colosseum, sipped espresso at Trastevere's quaint cafes, admired the magnificent Trevi Fountain, and fallen in love with the Spanish Steps. It’s been an absolute whirlwind of gorgeousness.

This week, 2027-03-24, the sunshine is glorious (but that's nothing new for this part of the world!). I've got my trusty pink tutu, a bright pink scarf fluttering in the breeze, and my heart overflowing with the pure joy of being in Rome! Today, my little pink-loving heart is all about celebrating the city's exquisite fashion, culture, and, of course, BALLET!

You might be wondering, "How do you find ballet in Rome, Emma?" Well, my dears, Rome's ballet scene is bursting with life, and trust me, it's a delight for any ballerina, even one in a pink tutu!

The Teatro dell’Opera di Roma is the big kahuna, of course, showcasing the best of the best in Italian opera and ballet. They are currently performing Giselle - a haunting classic, which I simply adore! My friends from Derbyshire (remember Derbyshire, England?) joined me for this stunning performance, and I was utterly speechless. They couldn't get over how beautiful everything was - the dancers, the sets, the costumes (and me in my Pink Tutu, naturally!). They swore they'd be joining my Pink Tutu movement as soon as they got home.

But it's not just about the big stages. There are fantastic smaller venues showcasing the work of emerging choreographers and young ballet dancers. A few days ago, I discovered this beautiful little studio hidden in the heart of the Trastevere neighbourhood. They were running a beginner’s ballet class, with some very enthusiastic students of all ages. I may have even had a little twirl or two alongside them - don't worry, it was strictly pink tutu-friendly! ?

Rome’s passion for dance goes beyond the ballet. There's a whole other world of street theatre performances, showcasing an array of artistic talents and energy. Yesterday, I caught a fabulous flamenco troupe dancing under the Roman sun. Their fierce passion was electric, and their red costumes were the perfect foil for my vibrant pink tutu!

Now, I couldn't possibly visit Rome without giving you my must-have shopping list for your perfect pink-tutu wardrobe. Rome is a city brimming with exquisite designer boutiques, and my inner-fashionista is totally overwhelmed. But who wouldn't be with so many glorious shops overflowing with beautiful clothing and accessories?

Here’s what’s on my list:

For the true Romanista: * A stunning, flowy silk scarf - like a colourful whisper in the breeze! I have one in a beautiful pink and purple paisley design, and I love wearing it to add a touch of Parisian chic. * A classic pair of gladiator sandals: They make any outfit pop and look utterly amazing. Mine are the perfect shade of pink, of course, with cute little pom-poms for an added dose of girly fun.

For a touch of playful sophistication: * A delicate gold necklace – perfectly simple but still a dazzling statement. Mine features a delicate pink enamel rose - a perfect representation of Rome's classic style and my own personal style, naturally!

For the everyday ballerina: * A wide-brimmed straw hat: It’s the perfect way to stay cool and stylish, and it complements every outfit from chic dresses to relaxed linen pants. Mine’s got a big pink ribbon around the crown for added oomph - and I haven't left the house without it all week!

But my favourite purchase so far: * A new pink tutu skirt that is completely handcrafted from feathers - a feather dream! This feather-tastic creation has added the perfect touch of whimsical fun to all my outfits, and I think I may have worn it to all my meetings - it seems everyone agrees on how much it brings a little joy to their day.

Fashion Tip: For all you aspiring pink tutu fashionistas out there - try layering your outfits to add some extra pink pizzazz. Think of a long pink skirt under a short floral dress - the perfect combo! And don't be afraid to experiment. Let those pink tutu dreams take flight!

Food is one of the biggest loves of my life, and in Rome, it is an art form. You all know how much I adore food - just follow me on Instagram! So naturally, my culinary adventures in Rome have been top-notch!

Here are just a few of my favourite culinary experiences:

Pasta Perfection: I must tell you, the pasta in Rome is simply divine! Every dish I've tasted, from carbonara to spaghetti alle vongole, has been pure perfection. My top tip is to embrace the flavours of the traditional dishes; you’ll find they’re just as delicious with simpler seasonings, allowing you to appreciate each element of the food!

Coffee Culture: Rome has such a beautiful, buzzing café culture. It’s hard to walk around the city without stopping at least three or four times to sip a delicious cappuccino or latte. And let me tell you - nothing beats a freshly brewed espresso, with just the right amount of frothy cream on top, while people-watching in one of the cobblestone squares. They say they like their coffee strong in Italy, and let me tell you, they weren't kidding!

Gelato Glamour: Ah, gelato - the sweet, creamy dream of Rome! If I'm honest, gelato is like my weakness. There's no better way to cool down from the Roman sun than with a big, pink (of course) gelato cone, packed with delicious flavours. I recommend the “Frutta Fresca” – a burst of fresh fruit gelato that is divine!

If you’re in Rome in March, the city comes alive with festivals and events that truly capture the spirit of Italian life.

Here's what's on offer:

• The Rome Film Fest (usually October-November): It's a major film festival held every year in Rome, attracting top filmmakers and actors. It's the perfect event if you love cinema and glamour, plus there are often street performances and themed exhibits that make the entire city feel more vibrant!

• Fashion Week (usually in February-March): Rome is home to an exciting fashion scene. The Fashion Week in March is a true highlight of the city's glamour and style. Keep your eyes peeled for up-and-coming designers who may just inspire the next trend - you may even see them working around the city during Fashion Week, making the streets extra exciting!

• International Festival of Rome (usually in April-May): A great selection of dance, theatre, music and street performances. This festival usually includes events across the entire city, so there’s something for everyone - plus it is so much fun to take a trip around different parts of Rome on a public holiday to find the local events.

Emma's Top Tip: Make the most of March by joining locals in the Piazzas for special events and exhibitions, taking a break from your explorations of museums and ancient sites.
