It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for another Pink Tutu Rome post! This week, I've been absolutely embracing the magic of Rome, a city that’s so full of history and charm that it’s like stepping back in time. As always, I'm funding my travels by dancing my heart out at a variety of performances - this week I graced the stage with a breathtakingly vibrant pink tulle tutu that shimmered under the stage lights (imagine it – shimmering!) I’ve been so lucky to be sharing my love of dance with audiences across Europe.
Now, back to Rome! This city has me absolutely captivated – every cobblestone street, ancient ruin, and delicious gelato stall just whispers a story. Let’s delve into the week’s highlights, shall we?
Monday: Fountains, Fashion, and Flavour!
I started the week by heading straight for the Trevi Fountain. A magnificent piece of artistry that literally left me breathless. Did you know it’s bad luck to visit Rome without throwing a coin in? Well, I followed tradition with gusto – my beautiful pink tutu bouncing as I skipped toward the edge, tossing in a gleaming gold coin!
The day got even better after a delightful lunch at a charming little trattoria on a side street, and – you guessed it – the highlight? Pink! My chosen outfit was a pretty pastel pink lace dress with a gorgeous matching cardigan – think romantic, whimsical, and oh-so-perfect for this historical beauty. It was like stepping straight out of a Renaissance painting!
Tuesday: The Colosseum and a Tutu-rific Performance!
There is no substitute for witnessing the grandeur of the Colosseum. The sheer size of it took my breath away. You could sense the stories that resonated in its stone, from the battles and gladiatorial contests to the countless lives lived and lost within its walls. I must say, the pink tulle tutu was the perfect addition to this majestic scene - it looked simply enchanting amidst the weathered brickwork.
In the evening, I took the stage in a small but charming theater near the Pantheon. The applause was warm and the feeling was electrifying. My pink tulle tutu and I had everyone captivated, including the famous Roman comedian Paolo Bonolis! (My mum always told me it was best to dress up even if you’re just going to the supermarket – her words of wisdom paid off here!).
Wednesday: Vatican Wonders and Fashion Fantasies!
Today was a full day of exploring the wonders of the Vatican. From St. Peter's Basilica with its incredible frescoes and mosaics to the Vatican Museums with their treasures that spanned centuries, the sheer grandeur was overwhelming, in the best possible way! I took full advantage of my pink tutu here, twirling in the central courtyard for a fabulous impromptu photoshoot that captured all the magic of the Vatican! Later that afternoon, I strolled along Via Condotti, home to the most incredible designer boutiques! A pink tutu enthusiast and a shopper’s paradise!
Thursday: An Enchanting Evening
I ventured beyond the Colosseum to the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma! What an unforgettable evening it was! From the moment I took my seat, the air crackled with anticipation for the breathtaking production. This night wasn't all about my own tutu, it was a chance to truly revel in the magic of ballet.
There was a lovely after-party with complimentary champagne. I felt a tad shy at first, especially after someone spotted my pink tulle tutu (apparently, not every woman chooses a tutu as their go-to accessory after the opera).
Friday: Train Trip to Pompeii!
This week I made a quick train trip out of Rome. Nothing beats the journey! Riding through rolling Italian countryside wearing my pink tulle tutu - it just made the whole adventure sparkling and vibrant!
Saturday: A Pink Tutus-cape!
On a perfect sunny day, I discovered a hidden gem in the heart of Rome. You may not believe me, but nestled in a corner near the Basilica di San Clemente, I came across a tailor’s workshop offering Tutu-skimming experiences for those with adventurous spirits. And my spirit just loves tutus, you see! I treated myself to a pink tutu and a shimmering purple tutu!
Sunday: A Day of Relaxation and Reflecting
After such an whirlwind of an adventure, I’m back in my tiny, but perfectly pink Roman apartment – yes, a girl’s gotta have her own space for her tutu collection! As I sit by the window, with the sun reflecting off my pink tulle tutus, I've realized Rome is one of those magical cities that will leave you forever changed.
